GS dash vs 4200

I think the 4200 dash looks so much better than the GS one. I like the fact that it's all integrated and looks like it was designed to be there.

Agree the functionality is out of dat but the radio & CD works, the phone works and the Sat Nav works. All the heating functions show up nicely and apparently there is a fuel consumption screen as well (not that I have ever looked). I have added a iPod just for more flexibility.

There are options to improve the sound decent speakers for a start but why? I bought the car to drive I don't expect hi end hi fi in it which is fortunate but it does it's job well enough.

One of the reasons I chose a GS over the 4200 I dont like the integrated screen sterio thing. I think it's trying to look modern but fails. My opinion.

Mine doesn't talk to me, it must be too scared. The Missus also goes quiet when she's scared sh!tless. ;)

If somebody can figure out the difference in the can bus routing on the GS against the 4200 then it may open up an upgrade route for 4200 owners. You could also use the parrot mki9200 as an interface and use the phone line in or usb in to connect a small tablet to give you an updated sat nav.

There is an outfit in Manchester called Fablab where you can go and use their 3d printers and other design and manufacture tools to design and make whatever you need or can conceive. They can also design stuff for you.

I keep pondering the idea but its one for the future at the moment and if I do go down that path then I want to be able to undo it and return the car to stock unmarked if I choose. A 7 inch tablet will probably do the job and in an ideal world I would like to be able to mirror the current 4200 displayed information to the tablet. I don't know of anyway of doing that bit.

Its a personal thing but the GS dash for me, its cleaner and more modern plus you get the carbon centre consul.

Its all those buttons and the centre screen that i personally do not find asthetical pleasing.

Agreed. The 4200 dash looks incredibly out of date and fussy to me. I like the simplicity of the GS dash, the carbon fibre surrounds and console, and the ability to fit whatever head unit I choose instead of relying on that crappy NIT thing!

I'm suprised that you worry about the stereo in a car as loud as yours MAF. Even my exhaust renders the radio irrelevant!

I also like the beautiful simplicity of the GranSport in general. Even the console - Overall the current models just can't match it for outright beauty! :)

I must be the odd one out preferring the 4200.

Your not on your own Safrane thats why I went for a facelift 4200. I like the design i just wish the sound and functionality were a bit better.
A double din screen instead of the nit and seperate screen would have been a better option and easier to upgrade with the times or incase of a fault.

Just goes to show, we all like different things and there is nothing wrong with that.

Been in MAF's car a few times, hifi is never on, just there for looks, could not even hear the pilots words, just saw his mouth moving!
