After Andy took me out in his other half's new Cooper S Works, i have developed such an obsession with Mini's in general, right now, cant stop thinking about the Cooper Sport. Anyone else have a love affair with Mini's???

Love this.

Yes Adam...we like minis just a bit in my family...
daughter has one, son has one, wife has one,
so does my daughters boyfriend, so does my sons girlfriend...
list goes on and on. I was very close to buying a series 1 a few months ago,
was waiting for the heritage paperwork to come through as there was a discrepancy
with the vin number...it check out 100% in the end, but the guy sold it to a neigbour!

We talking bmw mini or real mini

I like the original (a spartan designed it) and the cooper s of the bmw but i drove the new one and opted for me smart brabus instead, found it more fun, best of the bmw minis is the diesel, had one for 4 weeks as my waitor had one and went on holiday and i loved it...50mpg in town......

Mini's in general really Dem.

For town driving, the best BMW Mini is the diesel but the one i would only buy is the JCW, so bloody quick for a car the size of a shoe.

Wife has a 57 Mini Cooper D - not a fan of oil burners really but she loves it, mpg only about 45 around town, not as good as some others 65-70mpg on a steady motorway run, had some issues with it now warranty has run out, rear suspension failure (twice) sorted out under warranty once and after much arguing repaired foc a second time, now it has starting problems, £150 diagnostic check £200 to replace a fuel filter! and its still not right, BMW answer "bring it in for another £150 diagnostic check.............." conversation ended abrubtly!
As for classic Minis - got one for my daughter in the process of turning a 1000cc City into Cooper Replica, red with white roof and the essential Union Flag need to get on and finish it!

We run a 2005 Cooper S which I think is the perfect car for knocking about town in. Its small, nippy, easy to drive, easy to park, the missus loves it and I don't look a complete tool getting out of it. I wanted a car that would suit us both so the GS wasnt used for a 2 mile shopping trips. So far, I've been very impressed with it. It's a lot of fun on the twisties too!

The only negative is its a thursty little thing! Just filled it up and got an average of 20.5 mpg! Ouch.

Dont want to upset anyone but they never appealed to me. Suppose I dont like small cars, but appreciate their uniqueness.

If I had to choose, I would go classic, not a fan of a British marque being sold to z'Germans...but suppose the mini was designed by an Italian anyway was is not?

Alex Issigonis designed the original Mini, dont think he was Italian, he was Greek-British.

Didn't Ital Design (Italian perchance) design the Morris Marina? Seem to remember the face lift model was even called Ital - would not buy one of those either!
