Is it the case that the handbrake shoe failure is due to parking up post wash when shoes are wet and they then seize? The driving off later then shears the pad from the back plate. It happened to me about eight years ago and I have never parked up with wet brakes again; to date the problem hasn’t reoccurred.
Yeah thats the reason in a nutshell , happens to my Landcruisers all the time in Africa , they get washed and prepped and put away whilst im in Uk , several months later after my return one or the other will have that exact problem ...............
