Finally agreed the purchase of the last UK, rhd, mark 2 Ghibli. It's a T reg, 2.8 GT in dark metallic green (Mexico, I think) and cream interior. Current owner has lavished £30k on it at Meridien over the last 7 years or so, so must be one of the best remaining examples.

I'll hopefully collect it next week, and if weather permits, pictures will follow.

I have seen a green one at Meridien a few times, if it is the same car it's auto and in very nice condition. Enjoy

It has spent a fair bit of time at Meridien over the last few years - the current owner (who owns and runs the Italian restaurant on Poole Quay) has spent good money keeping it in fine fettle.

I've not actually seen it yet, but obviously will do when I collect it on Tuesday. All of my last three Maseratis I've bought sight unseen. I know having an indie inspection is sensible, but to me, buying a Maser isn't a "sensible" thing anyway! And I've not regretted my previous purchases. Fingers crossed!!!!!

With you on that one Ewan bought my 456 GTA unseen and then drove 275 miles to pick her up and drive back leaving my Range Rover there to pick up the next day. Long story but part of life's stories.

Ewan-

without going into too much detail, this seems like a great coincidence- 400209 was originally owned by a guy in Poole.

Does he have the initials KGH by any chance...?

Jim - the current owner is Alex (but I can't remember his surname), and he's had it about 9 years. The previous owner was a friend of mine. I'm collecting it tomorrow morning, and taking Myles from Emblem along with me, so between us we should be able to check that it's all hunky-dory before I hand over the money. Getting a new Maser is always a fun day.

Picked up the Ghibli today (lovely sunny dry day here on the sunshine coast of Bournemouth), and its now safely tucked up at Emblem for a proper look through. I've trawled through the service history and the last chap spent £29,000 on servicing at Meridien during his 9 years and 28,000 miles of ownership. So that'll be, basically, a Pound a mile on general servicing! On the upside, comparing what he paid Meridien for the car back in 2004 and what he got today, he's only lost £1,500 in depreciation - which is incredible. Swings and roundabouts, as they say.

Given that it is, as far as I can tell, the last UK Ghibli (mk 2) and in fine fettle with perfect main dealer service history from day 1, it should be a good long term keeper.

I'll endeavour to post a couple of the quick phone snaps I took today. But good pics will have to wait until Emblem have organised some paintwork and Swisswax polish. But the Mexico green really suits the Ghibli shape - I think even better than the blue of my Ghibli Cup.

Many congratulations. Does sound like you've found an incredibly well cared for car.
