I test drove a silver auto 3200 AC and blue 4200 Spyder CC at Graypaul Edinburgh in 2006 but they wouldn't give me enough cash for my Porsche 996 turbo tip so I walked away. I remember loving the grunt of the larger v8 in the Spyder and being quite intimidated by the AC as it was raining.

Went back in 2009 and bought a black 05 plate GS however it depended on the sale of my BMW z4m coupe which was all lined up until a client drove his Range Rover into it while trying to park and the deal collapsed.

Fast forward to 2013 and I bought Loz's famous GS (now FatArnie's). Then a 3200 (now Highlander's), then another GS (now JayBlue's), then the old Biturbo, then a Ghibli and now the Stradale.

I have upheld my end of the bargain by looking after it for him. He was financially richer after I had left but I think he will be over it by now

First time I ever sat in one following buying online from a trade auction - turned out to be Graypaul Edinburgh. Looked the dogs' ******** on the forecourt but as I and the Mrs got in to drive back to Newcastle...............flat battery! Was also on fumes so pulled into 1st petrol station where I was relieved of £100 without even filling up - should have known! Kept engine running whilst I filled up, only to have police car come alongside and tell me to switch off. Somewhat embarrassingly I explained the circumstances and he laughed then drove off.

Going from Gibraltar to Portugal as a passenger in a GTS MC Shift..... loved the car but thought the seats were not great on a long journey (4hours)
Next drive was the first GS I viewed to purchase , which was a bit tatty so didn't get it. (But the seats were superb)
By then I knew what I wanted .

Early '90s, I helped a friend on his quest for a BiTurbo. We looked at cars all over the south east and drove many. He eventually settled on a lovely LHD Swiss import with whacky '70s corduroy interior.

As both of us are dyed-in-the-wool Italian car fans, it felt at once familiar but also special. When my friend moved abroad for work he left me the car to look after. It was never an easy car to drive but very rewarding when you and it were on the same page.

He's moved onto the prancing horse now, but those years left a mark on me and I knew I had to own a trident at some stage.

First actual drive would have been in my zymol days 98-2002, moving them about for clients but totally fell for the marque when I looked after the combined Ferrari/Maserati stand at the NEC Classic Car Show possibly 99 or 2000.

First drive was about this time last year. Still not being able to get a date out of the local Alfa dealer for the Giulia QV launch I booked at test drive on a whim. Less than two weeks later I drove the Ghibli away. Still can't quite believe it.

Do you have to have the car running when its on fumes? Sorry i ask as i was confused by that....thought if you turned off its the same thing?

Bought the first one I saw 4200 Classico Cambio Corsa just blew me away and I had to have it and the first journey was Gloucester to Weston super Mare on the M5 in August holiday traffic.
Survived that and 4 years well used.
Found the forum same weekend and the rest is history :)

Reserved mine without seeing it as I was 500km away at the main dealers. Then went to the see it and decide whether to go through with the purchase. The dealers were on a main street in Stockholm. Got there early and whilst waiting outside for the showroom to open, I couldn't believe how many people that were walking past stopped and got there photo taken standing in front of the window with the GS standing just inside the showroom window. Finally got inside, viewed and started it up and I was sold. Bought it straight away. Still had to wait 5 months for the snow to go Before I could take delivery.

I searched long and hard for the right GS. I'd viewed quite a few before i eventually found mine but never really driven one more than a couple of miles and never more than snails paced test drives. I took a visit down to Nuvola and took my dad with me to view the car and as soon as i sat in it, started it up and had fully reviewed the cars history ( I didn't take it for a test drive) a deal was done. My dad seemed to be just as excited as me, however he's never wanted to have a go, as he's too scared of using the cambiocorsa gearbox. He does however like to sit in the drivers seat and start it up when i'm at my parents visiting. A couple of weeks after viewing the car, I had a call from Nareman and it was all serviced and bits and pieces rectified which weren't quite right and it was ready for collection. Money exchanged hands and then began the long and enjoyable drive back from Shepherd's Bush to Manchester.

First time in a Maserati.... Summer holidays 1973, me and my mate got to sit in a brand new Bora belonging to a neighbour's son, the dark blue paintjob, contrasting stainless steel roof and white leather seats are etched in my mind to this day. The owner started it up and I was smitten.

First ride in a Maserati.... at Brunty last year, a lap of the runway in Andyk's fabulous blue QPV.... I was smitten all over again.

First drive in a Maserati... still waiting for that pleasure to come around.
