Maserati Centenary Trip

My suggestion would be a Monday night stop-over in the UK to allow for those who have some distance to cover to get to the crossing. An early Tuesday crossing with Tuesday and Wednesday as stop-overs on the way down to arrive Modena on Thursday evening in time for the celebrations beginning on Friday 19th September.

I'd be happy to have Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in or around Modena, dependant on how the celebrations pan out, with Monday and Tuesday to get back to Calais, or wherever we choose to cross. Depending on crossing times a final UK stop-over to be home again no later than Wednesday.

For me based in Loughborough it'd mean I'd leave Monday and be home the following Wednesday.

This sounds perfect for us. Crossing by chunnel?

I suspect we can put up some travellers from the north i they need to break up their journey.

Mile, happy to reinforce my name is in the hat for the committee anywhere I can help.

Let's not forget the Goodwood revival is the previous weekend, I've hopefully started the ball rolling with regard to a possible departure from there on the Sunday afternoon (albeit only to a local hostility) They are going to be doing something Maserati anyway for the centenary at the revival.

Not fussed about staying in Bologna or Modena, it is only 20 miles away and drinking is not going to be high on anyones list so a drive back in the we small hours from Bologna is not a problem.

What we thinking for number of days? Will need to book this off....

From London it's 16 hours of driving to get there, maybe a thousand miles.

Factor in breaks, lunch, fuel stops, train boarding & journey - it'll take longer. When I've been touring on my own, eight hours driving a day is fine, but probably not with a group and partners along. Depends on the levels of dedication.

I was expecting three days to get there leaving Folkestone on a morning train on Tuesday, then two nights one in France, one maybe in Switzerland.

Stay in the Modena area until Sunday/Mnday, making your way back over three days again. I guess if you're partnering with Newton you guys can drive longer coming back so maybe two days instead. I'd say minimum of 8 days to make it comfortable, 10 to make it fun and relaxed...more if you can.

Coming back, I thought to take a couple of days to have a trip back from Northern Italy over the French Maritime Alps, as I loved those roads earlier this year - there's something about the mix of sunshine, fresh mountain air and open-top Spyders with a roaring engine bouncing back off the canyon wall that makes the world right.

Everybody going to this:

I need your maximum on room rates, as rooms are going fast, we may have to pay a little bit more the longer we wait. I have enquiries out to hotels, but I need to know the top limit agreed by all..?? Is it £100 per night - £150 per night..?? Obviously I will negotiate the best deal we can get..!!

Cheers

Needs to be bloody good to be £150 :) But given the event, I'd spring for a couple of nights at that, if I had to. Would rather the £100 mark.

Everything Catman said. For £150 I'd expect to find Natalie Portman in my bed. Maybe Scarlet Johansson, also.

That said... let's avoid the flea-pits or skanky hotels in the ar5e-end of town and where we have to park on the streets. I guess we may have little choice, though!

Chaps,
OK I will try and organise some girls in with the room charge then, can't guarantee they will be models, or film stars, but they will probably be Italian..!!
I am trying to get a deal within the £100 mark, but due to room shortages we might have to go up a bit, let's see how we do. If I get a good deal I will book it, otherwise we could be struggling for space.
I will attempt to keep it to 4*, I'm not keen on low quality "hotels" either..!!

I am currently looking for space for 3 nights, Thursday to Saturday nights inclusive, if that's not what we want let me know. I am also opting for doubles at the moment, but some may want singles so I will see what is available.
Cheers
