Maserati Classiche

Does this mean that in a year’s time my 2002 Spyder will be eligible?

Edit: as it has to go back to Modena to be certified, I might rethink that one.

Good to see Maserati finally taking this step to recognise and support the value of their heritage.

If they're supporting older models and hopefully this includes some of the hens teeth parts, do we think that will help residuals or even move the dial up a little?

I think it will certainly help preserve the value of decent looked after original classics, just like Ferrari Classiche. Very much doubt it will help with parts supplies though…

It's a good drive. And if your car makes it, then certification should be automatic.

McGraths can do it? They are on the list of 12 Garages. Just read the thing properly, they do indeed need to go back to the factory.

I do like McGraths, they have done some good work on my car. That said, every item on the list always seems to be a four figure number. Having them work their magic and then take it to Modena might be a bit more to bite off than I can chew.

I'm glad that they are doing this but given how few people have commented on the PH page itself you can see how little interest in this there really is. The more modern cars in the 20-30 year old range do not have anyway near the value to justify this so the announcement is just a PR spin to help sell new cars and further protect the values of the few 50 or so year old beautiful cars they once made.

Not what the blurb implies.

"For the first time developed and supplied by Maserati.

One of the purposes of the Maserati Classiche department is to start providing spare parts that are no longer available on the market.

We start with key selected components, made according to the original designs, using the best technologies of today improving the reliability and functionality of the spare parts without alternating its aesthetic appearance"

Perhaps they could help with helping the modern cars hit 20 years by improving the reliability etc of its chocolate subframes......

It has to be a no brainer for an extra revenue stream. Downside will be a parts price increase.

Nah why would they do that? What will happen is that we will be competing with Maserati Classiche for all the rare parts. They'll be calling up Greg at PCPP, Eurospares, Ross at Meridian just like the rest of us

"The Certification process is guaranteed by a committee of experts and is offered for Maserati cars from more than 20 years ago plus the special series, including those from the recent past such as the MC12 and the Quattroporte limited editions. "

I wonder what falls under the category of limited edition QPs? Centurion or Awards editions maybe?

I normally go via Eurospares or Maranello Classic Parts - for both Maserati and Ferrari, they both seem to be able to access the worldwide factory stock inventories and also request out for hard to find spares. Sytner / Gray Paul I believe are part of the same company umbrella for the Maranello parts arm.

Unfortunately I found when restoring my previous Mondial and now the Testarossa, most of the time the parts I have required are either NLA or extortionate in price (apart from small odds and sods). eBay internationally and a long game of patience has normally got most of the parts I need. Take for example I previously bought the very last available washer bottle level sensor available in the mainstream parts network globally. Managed to get a spare set of rear light clusters for the Testarossa last summer via eBay, for many years NLA.

Many parts such as Window or dashboard/cockpit switches, sensors, KONI shock absorbers, Lights etc. All NLA. So pray you don’t break anything or have an accident….

So I take it with a pinch of salt seeing the Maserati Classiche announcement, it’s already an expensive nightmare for a 1980s Ferrari. Hope Maserati truly stand by long term parts supplies.

Definitely agree with you with the German manufacturers having better parts supply chains, a very good friend who restores classic mercs can still get most parts including bumpers, grills and lights for his 1960s SL and other 1970s cars he owns etc…

Over 20 years of age. That includes BiTurbos & 3200’s. Wonder whether Maserati will acknowledge that they exist now then?
Well it was 40 years to the day since the launch of the Biturbo on Tuesday and nothing popped up.

At last…Good to see this but they better get a move in as most have probably rusted away by now ;-)
