Maserati Granturismo Vs Audi R8

I just had a massive debate with my local car garage who are selling an Audi R8, i said i wasn't interested because i like a car with exclusivity especially when spending a large sum of money which i feel get with my Maserati Granturismo S MC Shift, but they say theres more Maserati Granturismos on the road than R8s ??? They were selling a silver R8 with black interior, which theres probably lots of this colour combo on auto trader whereas most of the maserati specs looks different o sale... thats what i call that exclusive !!

i don't agree with them ..... whats your opinion

he might be right about total GTs on the road v R8s but seriously doubt there are more MCs than R8s

Yes he may be right but one's a Maserati, the other is an Audi - I know what I would rather have regardless of exclusivity

There are currently 80 GTS MC Shifts for sale on AT and over 200 R8's. I'll let you decide which is the most common of the two.

Using the unreliable howmanyleft shows over 1500 R8's in both 4.2 and 5.0 flavour as opposed to about 870 GTS so again tell them they are living in cuckoo land.

I wouldn't say there are a lot of R8s here on the road in Australia.

But there certainly isn't a lot of GTs either - of any spec.

Driven both. Just on looks, the R8 is virtually invisible. And the sound doesn't come close to 4.7.

Wait... did OP expect the dealer to turn around and say, "I totally agree, you're right - don't buy this car from me, keep yours."

I wasn't trying to buy it!! the car garage forms part of my local gym in which they try to involve me into there debates.

Who wants an Audi anyway?

This is what i thought.....

I told them its just an Audi and they said well you can get a Maserati Granturismo for 25k and not an Audi R8 in which i replied not a 4.7S but i guess they see it as the same, but we know better.

Audi R8 :D

A guy at work bought a V10 at over £90k a few months ago and we all went out for a pub meal on a Friday. I pulled up in my GTS and he pulled up in his Audi. After lunch we both came out with colleagues and all the women were drooling over my GTS and the usual "Maserati is owned by Ferrari isn't it?" - "OMG that is an Italian beauty - it's lovely" until one noticed his car and said "Lovely car Tom is that the new TT"

The look was priceless :D

Admittedly I am not as committed to the marque as others, I'll get that in first, but come on it is an R8.

An R8 is a sublime car. I am not saying that the GTS MC is not, it is as well.

In terms of exclusivity and number on the road, I would compare the number of: (i) Maserati GT's on the road; to; (ii) number of R8's. The average man in the street is not going to know the difference between an R8 V8 and a R8 V10, nor a GT or a GTS or a GTS MC.

As for it just being an Audi, a Ford GT40 isn't a Mondeo, nor is a R8 an A3...in fact it is more like a Lambo Huracan.

I would happily have both!

Ok, hadn't crossed my mind that a member of this forum would go elsewhere to talk bo**cks about cars...you can do that all day, every day here!

:rofl5:

Totally agree. Yes, it's not beautiful. But is that a crime when it is, by all accounts an amazing car to drive? Or are all us Maserati owners just poseurs with no interest in how a car handles? I personally bought the GS 'cos I thought it would be better to drive than an XKR and close to a 997 but with more space (and admitedly it is quite easy on the eye and sounds amazing). But if I didn't need 4 seats I might be getting into scraps over at r8talk...

When my better half was test driving he Q3 I asked the sales guy how many R8's he sold a week, the answer was 3 or 4.
Multiply that figure by the number of Audi dealers there are and you have sales figures Maserati can only dream of.

R8's are not exactly common where I am, but I still see more of them than any Maserati (with the exception of mine of course).
I know of only 2 Masers in Ashford (mine and a guy round the corners 4200), but know of about 4 or 5 R8's.
