Hi I'm looking at buying my first Maserati GT its 2008 with 29,000 Miles , is £36,000 a fair price FSH all services done on time 2 owners. Whats the depreciation like now as they seem to be at the bottom end.

If it's a good one, in a nice colour combo that sounds very reasonable... If you've not had a look at the one Lozzingers has for sale in the classifieds then you should... as a previous owner of his car .. in my opinion it's the best available..(not sure what he wants for it though) ... but he has fitted a fantastic new exhaust system..

Good luck..

I will do for sure, the one I'm looking has full MFSH , they are putting new pads, discs, tyres on before sale also, plus a 6 months warranty which can be used at Maserati dealers. Seems as solid as can be really and with all the work done on the main consumables seems 12 months motoring without anything needs doing , was also serviced last year 2000 miles ago. What sort of depreciation would you guys expect in the next 12 months not that it matters just out of interest really, would £3000 be more less?

Doubt you'd lose much in depreciation... £3k a sensible budget... values a bit sensitive to how many available at the time... and colour / condition more important than miles...

But 29k is pretty low for that age now ... a few for sale for similar money with twice that mileage... so you should do fine on it..

Iv had a GTR and similar sort of cars M3 etc so i assume the servicing parts are in similar sort of range price wise, i only do 8000 miles tops a year and i heard they are good daily cars now more than say the past models is that right?

Any good sports springs like eibach fit whats being used mainly here? Im thinking of FD spacers and springs as the only mods.

Not sure I'd spend FD money on springs. They have a cracking looking set of coil-over shocks for just shy of $4k but if you want razor-sharp handling you're probably buying the wrong car. Their sports springs are nearly $1k plus taxes etc and I struggle to see that it's worth it, certainly for how I drive. The spacers, on the other hand, are ace!

Anyway, the GT is a fine car and a great tourer. Good luck with the purchase. Let us know how you get on.

Are there any other brands for the springs , spacers are a must the springs I'm not sure and was mainly for looks to close that gap.

Hi Christianm,
Enjoy your buying experience! One car I looked at had 22mm spacers on and he had also lowered the suspension by ~15mm or so I think. Due to him having Skyhook suspension iirc he was surprised how easy it was to just lower it without changing the springs. Someone may be able to correct me if I am wrong but it wasn't a costly process and far easier than he thought.
As Fangio said mine is up for sale too if interested :) Larini would be my recommendation - they just make the car complete :)
All the best,
Laurence

Not sure what the suspension setup is on the GT but you should be able to adjust the ride height without replacing the springs. I'll find out next week what impact that has on the ride quality but assuming you're not planning on slamming it too much I guess it should be fine.

There are other places where you can get spacers - give Noor at Torenno Performance a call.

I read somewhere that you cannot adjust the ride height of the standard springs on the GranTurismo if it has skyhook. Maybe something FD say to sell their lowering spring kits.

so maybe you can or maybe you can't! Perhaps give Noor a call as AdamN suggests - and do share/educate with us if you do...

Spoke to Noor already thanks, i basically do London driving the hardest drive it gets is on the M1 so probably don't need to go down the road of FD Springs kit, one thing he wasn't sure on was the spacer sizes if the FD spacers 22/25 were to wide believing that 17/22 would be better?

No first hand experience myself but there was a thread running on maseratilife about this. Apparently Maserati changed the oem springs on the QPV to stop this as it was interfering with the skyhook settings. Agree about who to ask. You can also email FD direct.

Personally I've never seen a 4.2 GranTurismo without skyhook but I am sure they must exist. Worth checking as many dealers' get the spec wrong on these cars.

Spoke to Noor he said a H&R spring would do the job as my hardest drive is around 40MPH its not a track car, yes it does have Skyhook my mistake. Anyone fitted springs and spacers on here to a 4.2?
