Maserati Insurance

Who do people use for insuring their Maserati nowadays? Are 'specialist' providers any good? I've just been quoted £1500 by Footman James which is pretty awful (I'm 40, with a clean license, 20 years n/c and have previously owned 911/Ghibli/Lotus etc).

Do people just go on comparison sites nowadays and have done with? A quick comparison showed Geoffrey Insurance at about £800....

Thanks!

I've used comparison sites and the specialists, a couple of whom have sponsored the forum. The best price changes annually with little reason sometimes, so, as long as the policy inclusions are the same, I shop around. The difference is often £100's.

Try Locktons specialist Maserati Insurance.
Just renewed for a second year and premium was only £5 more than last year, which was nice.
What is also nice is that any driver over 35 can drive your car with your permission, and you can drive any other car fully comp (yes, fully comprehensive) as long as not owned by you/within the household.

I use Manning's, for the 348, and the Assetto Corsa, mirrored the NCB , and just over £400 . Used them since TVR days as they used to include track day cover.

I used Cherished Vehicles for mine - was tempted by Footman James (especially as I am a Sporting Bear driver) but CV certainly pulled the rabbit out of the hat for me :)

Make sure you have a start date 21 days in advance as they use airline pricing and it goes up the nearer the commencement.

Just out of interest, how much was your policy if you don’t mind sharing?

I’m 51, no claims forever pretty much and in a good postcode area. And the quote was £500 more per year than my current. And you can’t take products off, for example it comes with UK and European assistance, which I get in a package with my bank account, so don’t need.

I found Locktons to be pretty good with very easy agreed valuations. They accept purchase invoice as a valuation. They do tend to be slightly more expensive than Classicline who tend to be very competitive. You require to submit current photos for agreed value.

Admiral insure my QP at reduced mileage for less than they insure my old V70. It's all about risk pools. I presume they don't insure many Masers and their owners don't claim often. Of course location and personal driving habits also come into the equation. Another provider wanted to charge me 5 times as much!

Thanks, for some reason mine was £1200 . Current is £650, and that wasn’t shopping around, just updated current provider for car that the the Maserati replaced.
I found the same with Locktons, was one of the highest and more than double, if my memory is correct.

I’ve always found Locktons to be expensive as well. I was with AIB (forum sponsor?) for a while but their last quote was pretty expensive so I’ve moved on. Also had to have the a Vodaphone tracker live which was £300 on top of the premium.

Including trying to get insurance on the day you buy a car, which is about a 10-20% hike compared to waiting until the following day. (At least that was my experience with Admiral.)
