Mayan prophesies and this week's work ethic

[Felonious Crud]

According to some interpretations of the Mayan calendar the world will end this Friday. The magnetic poles will reverse, we'll all be drowned in a huge tsunami unless we live over 2,000 feet above sea level, a strange new planet will emerge from behind the sun and a large snake will eat us. Or something like that.

On that basis should I:

a) carry on working my butt off and trying to get ready for Christmas
b) max out the credit cards on whatever I fancy maxing them out on
c) clear off to a tropical beach with the family and enjoy the end of days with a cocktail in my hand.

On balance I'm inclined to the first option.

What plans have you all got?

FWIW for any you fellow closet geeks out there, there is no Mayan end-of-the-word prediction. its a total myth. basically, its like suggesting Robbie Williams has predicted the end of the world because his calender ends in December

Erm, because that's media's raison d'etre. At least these days. While a person may be intelligent and analytical, people are stupid, weak willed and easily led.

I'm weak-willed and easily-led! But only when it comes to things which are hugely good fun and have engines or which are hugely good fun until the following morning. As far as what I read in the papers is concerned it's all a load of old shite half the time. Still, the thought of Russians buying up candles and vodka, lunatics heading to a remote French village to be collected by a UFO and Americans buying up nuclear shelters makes me smile.
