Hi Sean,

Did you have your original wheels refinished in pewter? Would love to see pics as that is my cunning plan in the interim until I decide whether to upgrade to a 19"

The wheels go off next week to be refinished and I need to finalize my colour choice. After seeing the red GS with dark wheels threat, I'm convinced that black is not the way to go for me. I've photoshopped the anthracite shade I think is right and I wouldn't mind some opinions from other members before I tell the painter

The calipers will eventually be refinished in rosso corsa as well.

Thanks for looking,

Neil

Lovelly thats how i want my original wheels refurbed for my 4200 just so much nicer than the original silver with the plus side that the brake dust will not be so noticeable after a few spirited miles.

Personally, for me, I think a shade lighter would look better.

Something like this:

And here's a GS with black wheels....for me, I think these are a shade too dark too (maybe its a trick of the eye!)

For me the second pic is probably the right shade but I appreciate that this is a very subjective thing. The lighter colour wheel,(assuming it is) looks good against the dark car though.

Probably prefer the lighter of the two but both look very good.

I don't need to spend any more money on my Red 4200 so I'm keeping my silver wheels.

Oh no....

I love my darker wheels, it took years off the look of my 2002 car. The thing is that I want a red Maser. Neil, do you want to swap bodies and wheels?

Mercury Wheels

Well after much faffing about and indecision, I finally got my wheels refurbished and in the end it was my son who decided on Mercury Grey and I think they look brilliant! I had toyed with the idea of a very dark grey but in the end went with a factory colour. I also did the calipers in Aluminio with red lettering. I felt that red calipers would be too much especially with the car being rosso corsa. The calipers were a relatively easy two day job and the only exciting part was baking the calipers in the oven before reinstalling.

I can definitely say that it has brought the look of the car up-to-date and it got compliments from a couple of Ferrari and Maserati owners at the local motor show on the weekend.

The car goes in to have the suspension dropped 15-20mm on Thursday and I'm considering a set of 15mm spacers for the wheels as well. Any 3200 owners used spacers before and have a comment to share?

Regards,

Neil

Hey Guys,

The paint code is:

Grigio Mercuri

ppg paint code 226679

Painting was done by Alliance Rim Repairs at a cost of $924 including removing/refitting tyres and rebalancing. The paint job was perfect and I'm very happy with the result.

Regards,

Neil

PS. Very jealous that you guys over East have an owners website...
