Hi everyone!
First, big thanks to your website & especially previous posts & forum; certainly makes the unknown a little less daunting to the maserati uninitiated reading your experience, views, enthusiasm & knowledge!!
So out goes the beloved Alfa GT V6 I've had from new for five years & in comes my first proper Italian! Always wanted one & this time next week I'll be driving one home from oop north down to Bristol in an 04 Grigio Alfiera beauty (please, Please don't snow all week!!)
Haven't chosen any insurance yet, any suggestions of a decent company for a kick off for ten?! Tried all the usual suspects & not been impressed to date!
Thanks & hope the next five years in the GT is as fun as the last five in the GT!

I couldn't source one I wanted locally so heading to Durham to pick it up (300miles!).... I know I shouldn't buy something purely by the piccys but been on the phone to the dealer for hours etc etc & won't take it home if not as advertised but looks like a minter!! Can't wait!!

I'll let you know when I've got it home & post some pics!!! Are you close to Brizzle? Are there any decent specialists/Indies? Looking quickly on my friend google haven't seen anywhere?!

Ohhhh, track day?!?! The rear tyres have only about a thousand miles left on them & wanted a get "some experience" in the car early on?!? What's the deal in cheptow? We were meant to visit some friends there next weekend but it's not working out but it's literally 20mins across the bridge from here! Definitely interested!! Le em know & very likely to see you there! Thanks!

Hi Snowflakes and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your imminent 4200. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Would be great if you can make it to Llandow. Lovely little track and you'll be amongst friends, so very safe.

Hope the weather stays clear for you, but if it's dodgy, take care, particularly if it's cold as we're below the operating temperature of summer tyres at the moment, so it'll loose grip in 4th if you press on too much.

Cheers, Em

Snowflake, I did the same fairly recently. Moved from a 3.2 V6 Alfa to a 4200.

I assure you, you won't look back.

Also live near you. Hope to see you on the Llandow track day :D

Im also an Alfa owner (156GTA) and I found the 4200 GS is very much feel like an Alfa other than the engine.

Between Masers, is that like between lawyers?!

Just moved from nr Colston School into the city centre - believe it or not better parking (hence the change in motor) & a garden!! I'll let you know when it's in town!

Erm, no.

24k miles. Full ferrari/maserati service history inc annuals. Known by dealer for 10k, second time selling after three years. When I write it down, doesn't sound all that smart of an idea!! Looks immaculate in the photos & dealer verbiage though! Worst that can happen is I waste a days trip & train fare?!

Anything stupid obvious I should look out for though? I know clutches are a pig if they go in the CC & %wear should be recorded on latest service sheet? Otherwise heard they're fairly reliable? It has "allegedly" be dry stored with minimal wet running as a second car as the previous owner needed something to take his daughter out in rather than the GT3 so not expecting any bodywork issues .... & then I'm out of ideas?!

I would ask them to heck the CC % before you go....Maserati will done this check and its not expensive to do......£50 tops.....If its near its end you will have some haggling on price....A clutch and balancing will cost around £2400................Engines are pretty much unburstable if looked after....

Hope you enjoy the car for a long time to come!

Just insured mine with Aviva on a multi car policy, when I rang they mirrored my no claims as I only had them for one car!

Came in at around £750 for 8K miles per year no tracker required & covered parked on the drive.

Thought this was quite a good deal.
