I've called round all the biggies, specialists & the suggestions everyones posted but seems no-one likes my postcode in central Bristol city so taking advantage & asking for extreme premiums! I think the best option is going to be REIS including track day cover (so hope to meet some SM members then!) for £1500, price to pay for our house location :-(
Thanks for your suggestions though (especially whoever suggested REIS)
Haven't slept in days I'm so exciting about getting the car on Friday, like a young lad waiting for his first date!!

I'd love to know whats going on with insurance companies, i had my 2 mercs insured with aviva (norwich union ) for the last 6 years one of em for 8 years never claimed , last year they quoted my renewals so high i had to shop around , Direct line came in at a 3rd of what Aviva were goin to charge me , so i moved both to direct line , and a couple on here are saying aviva are cheaper for Massers whatever next , My best deals on the massers came from A plan for the GS and the 4200 with Saga ...........yes Saga of all people sort of like wearing a large name tag with 50 plus written on it

Just had my insurance through from Aviva and its £10 cheaper than last year at £245 for the GTV V6.........and shopped around and they have been the best as well....Don't think I ever had a renewal thats been cheaper than the year before.

Andy - there are a few companies out there who guarantee to beat your renewal price. Might be worth checking out.
These offers sound good at first, but renewals are almost always higher than the previous year as the insurance companies prey on those too lazy to look elsewhere - easy to beat.
I've just reinsured my wife's car - renewal was £100 more than last year for no apparent reason. Shopped around and got it £150 less than last year's premium!
A tip for any insuring - use all of the price comparison sites, not just one. I used Admiral in the end, but had 4 different prices from 4 comparison sites!!

I was an Aplan customer for years with my Maserati, then they fell out with Groupama and I moved to RH Specialist Insurance Division (01277 206912) and they smashed the premium.

And whats more, when I sold the GS after taking out the policy with them maybe 2 months earlier, they refunded all the remaining funds...did not try and rip me off, so hats off to them, nice to be pleasantly surprised by an insurance company!

I use RH for my BMW. Fully comp on what is now quite a heavily modified car is £129 per year! Agreed value and 5k miles limit, which I will never achieve.

Admiral were second best to REIS because I added my 26 y/o mrs to the policy. Obviously never actually going to drive the car on the road (not becuase she's a woman!) but took £250 off the premium!

I figured track day insurance was about £150 per day & REIS give you four track days in the price of the premium with the excess only rising to 10% of the vehicle value so in affect £900 for central bristol.

The thing that really got my goat was being charged an extra £400 too because I was hit by a 29 tonne securicor lorry in 2010 in my GT V6, no fault or claim on my side but I'm now hit with a higher premium two years later!! Grrrr :naker:

Wondered why A-Plan 01635 874646 went up so much, but they did me proud for years. Other car is with RH Insurance, but main cars are with Admiral multi-car.

Only just managed to squeeze a decent price on the Gransport , otherwise i would have moved that one aswell , what i cant understand is that they tried to charge me£120 more for the 4200 , when its worth +10K less , just kept it under the £600 a year mark by paying all up front , that made me whince :garmi:

In a word, whiplash claims. There was some statistic that a high proportion of insurance policies are made up from these payouts.

Loz - Same deal as me, wanted to get it under £600 and A-plan could not match.

I have rolled 4 cars onto multi-car with Admiral. First to go on was the 3200, which was cheaper by itself with Admiral. The more cars I add the cheaper it gets, including daughter with just over one year on full license. Her insurance has been cut in half AND can start getting her own NCB!
Only downside is all policies inherit the same anniversary, which make moving all away a big chunk to find. Guess if I needed to bin Admiral, I woudl do it one car at a time.
