Some lucky Ozzie is going to be the lucky owner of virtually the best 3200 ac in the country , Phil mailed me the other day to let me know the sale has very nearly been completed , im gutted for him but pleased that the beasty has sold quickly as i knew it would , Lets hope we see the new owner on here , i think Phil has given our details so we'll make him welcome as and when , for those that are ineterested Phil has kept a register to track the 3200 Assetto corsa's , as owners will know they are all numbered might be worth someone on here an AC owners taking details and carrying it on

Did see in the for sale section Loz.....I sounded like the perfect AC. Alot of the best examples are now going further afield....

I dont really have a problem with that , in theory it should improve their life expectancy away from the tinworm ,

Yes,
It is true; Phil's beautiful AC is heading down under to a new home where they do not put salt on the roads (although one does get the odd kangaroo jumping across the country roads just to make life interesting).
The finer details of getting it here are yet to be sorted, but all going well it should be residing in Melbourne, Australia early in the New Year.
I have been trying to acquire an AC since the start of this year, and by the sounds of things my lack of luck has been to my advantage.
I am new to this Forum, having spent some time looking at "the other one", so hopefully I will make myself known a little better as time goes by.
I will certainly post some pictures once the car is here and registered; at least I have plenty of time to think of an appropriate backdrop that will be recognised by all (The Sydney Opera House and Uluru / Ayers Rock are a long way from Melbourne).
Perhaps a nice pose by Albert Park Lake on the Grand Prix track?

Warm welcome Scarlan, totally agree with you that fate has certainly played to your advantage , treat her with affection , she's italian very hot blooded and needs pampering , for that she'll reward you with a permanent grin from ear to ear , give you in abdundance adorning looks from passers by and pedestrians alike , that will just make the smile that bit wider ,

Luckily enough Phil, has never to my knowledge had any throttle body/pedal pot problems , at the slightest inkling do your self the biggest favour and contact Luuk.........( Boomerang) on here if they should start , swap,it out for a solid state one and all the problems will be sorted , dont waste time and money backwards and forwards to dealer who think they know what they are doing ask Dem , he tried that route and then bit the bullet never had a problem since

Other than that , hope she arrives safe and sound and damage free be sure to post pics and input on here shortly after

Warm regards loz

PS, forgot to say that Phils car is almost perfect , the only thing that would enhance it , in my opinion is a Larini exhaust system, awesome sound for you and everyone else to enjoy

Hi Dem, Loz, Adam, Enzo & Andy,
I gather from the great response to my note that you are all avid fans of Phil's car (& Phil himself), which again is reassuring.
It has been a real gamble looking at cars over the internet without seeing them first hand.
I spotted one not that long ago that someone then uploaded the "before" images of; scary stuff.
Rest assured the AC is coming to a very good home where it will be looked after in a similar manner to what Phil has done over the years.
I have only owned Alfa Romeos and a restored Lancia (Montecarlo Spider) until now, so the progression to a Maserati makes good sense to me (well that is what I keep telling my wife anyway).
As to the foibles of owning an Italian car, well obviously I must be used to that!
I will keep you posted on my progress, and thank you all for your kind words and support.
Regards,
Stephen

Scarlan, what was the Lancia Montecarlo like...Really like these but put off by horror stories of the shocking breaks and rust...Although I'm sure all this could be sorted.

Hi Andy,
I still have the Montecarlo.
Believe it or not I bought it whilst I was living and working in London in 1989 and shipped it back in 1990.
Then came the 18 year restoration!
My car did not suffer from the dreaded Italian Tin Worm too badly, and touch wood certainly doesn't now.
As for the brakes, they are not great by modern sports car standards, but we are talking about a car that is 30 years + old now.
This is a recent photo taken whilst doing a parade lap at Phillip Island:

Thanks Dem,
A lot of time, effort and something else has gone into getting the Monte to this condition.
It won best in its class in the last Australian Lancia Register event that is held here every 2 years, so I am pretty chuffed about that!
Here is another shot that I like even if it is taken in a carpark!

Adam,
There is a fellow in Sydney that has an 037, a Montecarlo, and a Stratos!
Rumour has it he has recently taken delivery of a Delta Integrale!
It would be nice if the toughest decision you had to make each day was which car you were going to drive!
