Dropped in on a friend who has accumulated around 50 cars since retiring a few years ago, mainly DKWs, Auto Unions and Saabs. 2 Porsches in this picView attachment 75026
I think that’s an Avro Anson and I’m going to take a guess it’s got Armstrong Siddeley engines.
Indeed. Brilliant knowledge. All unexpected.I think that’s an Avro Anson and I’m going to take a guess it’s got Armstrong Siddeley engines.

Stopped at the Cotswold Motor Hub for sausage rolls and coffee. Lots of interesting cars and bikes there at some pretty strong prices! This '68 911S looked pretty.
It is, and it has. (Cheetah radials). However, I don’t see the connection, unless the tyres were made by Dunlop.
Yes, I was involved in supporting its rebuild. There were a group of enthusiasts at the BAE Woodford Aerodrome in Cheshire in the 1990's who rebuilt the aircraft from the rivets up. I remember having to source some new landing gears from Messier Dowty in Gloucester....for free. Was an interesting conversation with the then MD of the company. Needless to say they delivered them on time and at no cost. Happy days.Apparently the only one left flying
I was taking the short cut round the perimeter from cardigan to Haverfordwest, but was in the QP GT S as opposed to our A-S Hurricane. QP has Continentals, Hurricane has Avon’s. Couldn’t get close enough, but they could have Dunlops on the Anson. Don’t suppose they have much choice. It is, and it has. (Cheetah radials). Most aircraft of that era would have operated with Dunlop tyres. You're quite right. Back in the day, I used to buy the wheels, tyres and brakes for the BAe146 regional jet as one integrated unit from Dunlop at Coventry. But the tyres came from Castle Bromwich. Not sure if it's still going these days?Made in Castle Bromwich, the wheels division was in Coventry
