Si, yours looks great with the dark tec cloth...its the light cloth that doesn't gell........

Frank, I would have the red car and put up with the tec cloth if price was right and inspection gave clean bill of health....

The bad thing with the leather though on the Gransport is that it is paper thin, after sitting in countless examples now ( i go to the showrooms and see them quite often) the leather does fell quite thin. The cloth does feel slightly more hardwaring.

Needless info but tech cloth came in three colours - light silver, dark grey or turquoise..... or grigio nickel, nero competizione or blu metal to use their correct names.

I am hoping to check this car out next week. They have offered me a good trade in price on my 350Z but I'm still hoping I can get the price down a bit more :D

Woody - what unusual seat repair? also do you still have the pre prep pics?

The seat repair seems to have been well done but the sign for me is the line across the main seated area - compare it to other GS's and they dont have that line so I suspect a panel has been replaced.

The pics I saw of it before was when it went to auction and it just showed cosmetics - scuffed wheels etc, nothing unfixable but enough for me to want to check the history thoroughly if I was thiking of buying it.

Apart from the nero competizione the other colours look like the stuff they put on 1980's trainers they sold in Peacocks.......Horrid.

When did it go to auction then Woody....How can you tell its the same car?
It was at auction late last year. I'm not 100% its the same car, but the ad that shows the plate, it is the same car and with the seats in the two ads having the same markings, age/milage/spec/location all be pretty similar, I'd be pretty confident they're the same car.

I went to see this today. The rear bumper has a spider crack in it & a few deep scratches which don't look like they could just polish out. Front end has a few stone chips but I guess thats to be expected really. Wheels are immaculate & tyres are practically new. Has had a recent service but never had a clutch, should that be a worry at 45K miles?

Interior was lovley & a real nice place to be, seats didn't look to have been repaired but I can see what Woody is saying with the stitch across the main seat.

It drove pretty well also & it seemed faster than my 420BHP Z despite being heavier & less powerful. The noise it makes after you press the sport button is immense :D

Gear change felt a bit jerky & non responsive around town, particulary when going from 1st to 2nd but out on the open road it was superb. Car also seemed to be a bit hesitant when taking off from lights & roundabouts - normal or me being a bit unsure?

Not sure if its for me though, It just didnt excite me as much as I had hoped despite loving the looks, interior, noise & the way it drove :love4:

I'm still unsure. I liked it as an overall package I just didn't love it as an overall package. It didn't excite me & I cant quite figure out why as it has everything I look for in a car. I'm sure that given a few weeks with it that I could learn to love it & if I bought one I'm certain I wouldnt be disappointed with it.

When I bought my Z I knew from the instant I started it that I was buying it & even now 4.5 years on it makes me giggle like a school girl at times :D I just don't see the GS ever being like that, but TBH no other car I have driven has made me think that its the right replacement for the Z.

I'm hoping to go along to see a manual 4200 at some point this week & see if that has the same effect on me.

I'd think that on an original clutch and 45k miles, you might be needing a new one before long - however, and indie inspection would confirm. The bodywork scratches don't sound great though.

I nearly bought a Nissan 350z a few years back (despite never being much of a Japanese car fan!), but just couldn't get over such a plasticky interior. They sound fantastic though! A GS is defintely a step up, and I think once you got used to it you'd find it a lot more 'special' than a Nissan.

Woody, just noticed the seats...Had a look at others for sale and you are right there isn't another with those type markings....Thats very odd......Why both seats I wonder..

The clutch would need replacing very soon I would think............The gear box does take a while to get use to as most flappy paddle boxes do.....You have to learn how to drive these and get the best out of it..........The GS is without a shadow of a doudt in a different league to the Z car....Its a different type of car and would normally appeal to different audience.........The interior on a GS alone makes the Z seem a tad fisher price inside.........by the way this isn't me having a go at the Z Ian as I love them....great cars...but a they are not a Maserati....You either get what Massrati is about or you don't.....

Ian,

Re the hesitancy, I would imagine that is one of two things (a mate made the same comment when he drove mine)
a - its either the sense that you cant clog it until the clutch is engaged (but once you're moving, you can press on!)
b - there is a brake that 'holds' the car for hill starts etc, which takes a second or so to release and that makes the car almost feel like its dragging its feet. Again, once this is released, the car feels a lot more 'alive'.
