I struggle to learn the Guitar and Sarah my wife is no less musically inept.

However both our daughters find it easy, so we have 2 violins, 2 tin whistles, 2 guitars (acoustic & electric), 1 flute, 1 trumpet, 1 cornet and a set of drums. They both can see a piece of music and play it straight off, they even rearrange tracks to suit the instruments, Hannah the Flutest and Kirsty the trumpet will decide which one plays an octave up or down so they work together. Even the music teacher at school asks Kirsty to rearrange the music so her trumpet fits in with the rest of the orchestra, they are 12 7& 11

My son can read and write music, I've no clue, and he can tell you the major, the tonic, the whatever of any chord, and does pentatonics and parallel minors and doesn't do DADGAD for Open-G does DADGAG or something cos he prefers the tonic. Ive no idea...

Shame his head is so fooked at the moment, poor lad is struggling with depression at 25 (remember his mate drowned last year, not sure it's down to that) I do my best but he seems to reject it. Anyway!

It's 'Flautist' isn't it!!??

Some amazing collections on here. I’ve cut down a lot, now just these:

Gibson Century of Progress acoustic
1983 Fender Squier JV Strat
Rickenbacker 330 Mapleglo
Fender Jazzmaster Costello Limited Edition
Yamaha Bass ( cheapy used only for recording)
Ozark 5 string banjo

I can barely play now. I had a lot of chemo that has left me with very little feeling in my fingers. Hence I’ve currently got a plaster on one finger from cutting myself, a burn on another and a thumbnail missing. Makes working on cars/bikes a bloody nightmare!!

V jealous of you guitar heroes. Wish I’d taken the time to learn. I’m still tempted to buy one to hang on the wall, just as I am to buy a Ducati to stick in the garage, purely to be able to enjoy both visually (and not actually use them).

I still have my sax though, so am more likely to play along to Baker Street than join in with any of the more rock orientated music I usually listen to.

I’m a bass player with a Fender Jazz and an 80’s Steinburger headless with double ball end strings.

When this lockdown is over, we should see if we can get together and have a jam as we have guitars, bass, drums and a sax and I’m sure a few of us could muddle along on vocals and ?

Well, our 3 gites in Provence can sleep 20 in total (10 + 6 + 4) or any combination, so lots of room and lots of availability as we have had to cancel our bookings up to June so far.

Not cheap to get a drum kit there though so perhaps somewhere in U.K. is better with a big barn etc to get us all in!

I have a knock-off copy of a Fender Telecaster short scale 4-string bass that I bought in 1972 for £20, and a nice (cheap) Warwick 4-string bass that I bought in about 2009.

I still have no idea how to operate either of them.

But I'm pretty confident I would be able to play the bass really well if I had a Rickenbacker 4003S.
