i'm sure this has been answered on here many times, but as I'm fairly new, what is the preferred choice of finish ?
I've just had some very minor bodywork addressed and the car mopped, so now I'm wanting to wax/polsh her to get 'that shine'
I'm open to recommendations !!!!!!!!!!!

Harley's is a good starting point you won't go wrong for the money.

What colour is your car, it has a bearing on what product you should use?

Just had the Gransport (rosso Mondiale) Swiss waxed. Will post pictures Friday. Dealer says it has come up a treat. Not cheap but had the full wash, degrease, clay and wax treatment.

Thank you for the welcome

She's an early one 54 plate, but has been over with a fine tooth comb and needed a little money spending, but according to the dealer is very sound. 36 k miles and full Maserati service history. So not even run in!

3rd Maserati after a 3200 GT Assetto Corso, 4200 Spyder. I have got the bug.

I would not recommend a tinted wax for a metallic paint as it tends to mute the flakes. A sealant is normally used on metallics as it makes the flakes "pop" and stand out in sunlight. I use Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 on my metallic silver Porsche and really notice the different to a standard wax.

Neil

Right I must try that on my silver GTV then.....So you use a sealant instead of a wax.....Do you just wash the car as normal and then use it...?

Hi Andy,

Wash the car with a strong solution to remove all the old wax. I use a citrus based wash and then normally run a fine clay bar over it to remove all the contaminants. Sealants bond to the clean paint surface so this is an important step. Depending on the sealant, they can ususally be applied to the whole car then buffed off. Wait the prescribed period of time for the sealant to cure and then apply a second coat if desired. The second coat is for even coverage rather than any extra gloss.

I have heard very good things about Prima Amigo but have not tried it myself. Also Klasse produce an excellent all in one product which cleans and seals.

Regards,

Neil
