Just so you know August is the main holiday month here in France so things will be changing daily.

Thanks, Phil.

The holiday season is one reason why I'm encouraging people to buy their 'fit-to-fly' (or fit to sail, in this case) tests online rather than assuming a chemist will be open and happen to have a test slot available at zero notice.

Philw - a business idea - assume 30% of lemans are brits and they all need a test at say 50euros, set up a pop up test centre and you will have 2.5m euros of business, may have to qualify as a doctor but you're a mechanic so halfway there!

Don't confuse the upsells on the website with what is required for travel. I bought the ones I posted on the WhatsApp chat.

The BA link above gives a cheaper price.

For France, no test is required for entry for fully vaccinated people BUT, assuming France moves to the amber list tomorrow you will need to:

  1. Show your vaccination certificate on check-in to the ferry on the outbound trip
  2. Show that you have purchased the day 2 test to use when you get back to the UK (receipt on your phone should be fine). Note that there is no quarantine from an amber country, the test is just a formality I suppose
  3. Prove a negative test from less than 72 hours prior to boarding for the return. This means a test from sometime Friday afternoon onwards. You can do this at a test centre in France (good luck finding a free booking for that within 50km of Le Mans over a weekend) or using a self-test service like the one above. This one you test yourself, show the result to a nurse via a Teams or Zoom call and assuming it's clear they'll email a certificate within 20 minutes. Which beats the bollox out of driving around France looking for a test centre. At the weekend. When le Mans is on.
You can expect demand to surge when many countries move to green tomorrow, so order promptly, would be my advice.

IMPORTANT – READ THIS NOW!!

I've just seen this on the Le Mans website....

You cannot enter Le Mans circuit unless you have a French Health Pass

FROM 18 AUGUST 2021

ADMISSION = 1 PRINTED TICKET + 1 VALID QR CODE

See the following website: Health & Safety Protocol | 24 Heures du Mans (24h-lemans.com)

Here’s how I did it on my iPhone (sorry – no idea about android):

Step 1. Downloaded the ‘Tous AntiCovid’ app onto my iPhone. Link available above.

Step 2. Download the ‘For Travel’ Covid pass as a pdf into my phone.

Step 3. Opened the NHS app and went to ‘Get Your NHS Covid Pass’

Step 4. Selected ‘Travel’

Step 5. Selected ‘Download PDF copy’

Step 6. Saved to files on my iPhone

Step 7. Opened the AntiCovid app

Step 8. Chose ‘Add a certificate’ and allowed access to my phone camera and chose ‘import’ (top right of the screen) and selected ‘Import from a PDF file’

Step 9. Found the file on my phone. For me, it was visible under the ‘Recents’ section. It prompted me to add it to my wallet, which is within the AntiCovid app. Select ‘Add’.

Step 10. I received confirmation straight away that my pass is valid. There is a QR code which is then shown at the gate to Le Mans and scanned, along with your entry ticket.

This seems like a faff, but for me it took about three minutes. Best to do this now, rather than standing in line with 100,000 others trying to get an app to work.
