Throttle Sticking

they are 350 plus shipping. i have not checked in a while but i think still cheaper than the Bosch unit. Should outlive your car easily and once set up also should never need any attention and never wear, i made one to solve the problem on my car and have made a few since for other owners, the car is tricky enough to keep running without having a flaky highly expensive pedal sensor that only lasts about 3 years, so i thought i would fix that one for good! pm me i can send you more details.

i have one of davys pedal sensors on my car (2001 3200 Assetto Corsa) switched it over myself (very easy to do) and it has not let me down once. plus it is beautifully engineered. i can highly recommend the update!

Going back to the original post, have you tried a throttle reset procedure? I do recall reading somewhere that if you don't get to max throttle each time you use the car then eventually they require a reset, indeed I have both Davys pedal and a Boomerang body contactless mods on mine but still need to do this every now and then.

Turn off the ignition
Turn it on again and do nothing for 2 minutes
Turn off ignition
Turn on again with pedal full depressed for 10 seconds
Turn off

This will reset the throttle.

Cheers Nick, I will give that a go

you could also try just pulling the sensor connector out and have a look at the contacts, see if there is corrosion? just try mating the connector a few times might help if there is a loose contact?

Throttle body back on.........Still the same!! could be an air leak, taking it down to the Boys at Emblem to diagnose. I thought I just about got to end of my list of jobs to do to get everything up together.Grrrrr!! I wish I had never clapped eyes on it

Well I dont know !!!
I left it running in the drive for about ten minutes to put some life back in the battery, went back to it blipped the throttle and it didn't stick !!?? tried it a few times and all OK, took it for a run and it drove like it should. Ill give it a go tomorrow, will let you know.........Yes Phil these old cars are certainly trying! This one is the newest of my oldens the others don't have ecus or anything like that so much easier to mend

Air leak? the idle speed is affected by so many things. My car wouldnt idle when i got it and i had, TB faulty, pedal sensor faulty, pedal sensor wiring faulty, airleak on plenum cover, turbo problem, faulty knock sensors, and crank sensor faulty, and only once i had all of that fixed does it start and idle. so take a deep breath and keep going you will get there.

If you've already checked this, then tell me to shut up and ignore everything from this point onwards :)

What state is your battery in?

I was getting odd warning lights and a massive flat spot on my engine. After checking everything and never finding a faulty component I checked the battery... typically voltage was about 12.1v and I believe anything under 12.5v indicates a battery on it's way out. Bought a new Bosch unit that was showing 12.7v even after sitting on the suppliers shelf for months. Was like a new car after fitting that!

My understanding was that when the battery was on it's way out that the Maserati would still crank but fail to fire. Mine started fine every time even in the middle of winter without issue!

The fact you left it idling for a while to charge up and then didn't have a problem when you went for a drive.. is suspicious to me!

My work colleague had a similar issue with his highly tuned Impreza. Some times he would go for a drive and it would be brilliant. Other times it would be hopeless. Turns out he has something draining the battery.. when it runs rubbish the battery was showing 12v at cranking time. Once he'd driven it and charged the battery up it was fine.

Cheers

Cheers Mark, The battery like many of the other components was new last year when I first put it on the road, But having said that it was fairly flat after being sat for about a week. I will check for a drain

Leave it over night and then check the battery voltage in the morning before you start her up again.. If at any point you're seeing less than 12.5v you may start to get issues.. could be as simple as a light stuck on somewhere draining the battery and then the electronics going screwy when you start her.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Maserati electrical gremlins - they come and go without any rational reason.......

I haven't used the car for about three days Battery went flat ! charged it up enough to start it and took it for a drive to put some life back in it and the problem came back. When you start it the revs just creep up and up (40,000rpm)If I put my foot under the throttle pedal and apply quit a bit of pressure it seems to shut it back down to 10,000rpm this has surely got to be the pedometer thingy or whatever you call it !!!???

Thanks for all of your imput Chaps
