Thanks Matt
have one repair quote already, from http://www.prestigeengine.co.uk/ sound like nice guys on the phone.

turbo technics guarantee 2 years / 24,000 miles which is better than my first quote. Is ours a plain turbo or a hybrid?

Car is at the garage for this, so not much chance of pictures

2 years ago I was looking for a company to get my turbo rebuilt and in first instance, all turbo specialists tell you that it can be done (no problem, Sir), but when push comes to shove the answer is that spares are not available and that you will have to order a whole new inner-unit (which is only slightly cheaper than a whole new turbo. But perhaps things have changed over time, I really hope so for you. Please let us know how you get on!

I had both my turbos inspected earlier in the year and they dropped the steering rack and sub frame to access them. A coolant hose above one was leaking and there were water stains on the turbo. Fortunately superficial only and both turbos were fine. Still cost me $3000 to have it done.

Thanks Neil that's good to know.

Rob I am sure the garage would oblige with a few pics if you asked them. Send me the pics with a few bullet points and I'll do it for you.

I have something nagging on the back of my mind that someone on here found a way of ordering the turbos direct from Japan was it not Boomerang, anyway well worth trauling through the turbo threads it's on here somewhere.

Hi Rob, Just picked this up again - Sorry to hear that your Turbo has gone - I took the car to my trusted indie (Im 4th Generation using them) they spun the turbo by hand and found it spinning without and problems so its something thats loose around the exhaust though will have it checked out though as its annoying me even though its only a slight noise!!

When I had asked David Askew about refurbs he seemed a bit cautious about going down that line, down to quality of workmanship possibly.

There was a guy in Spain who changed his turbos and found a really cheap source, the turbos are made in Japan. I think its under the alternative parts thread?

Nick that was the post I was trying to find, but had no luck, can you remember what his name was, I am sure it was a very Spanish name, Pedro or something like that?

Spoke to the turbo technics guys, they claim parts are not available.
My other contact claims they are, and in fact have bearings and seals in stock. Going to try this as thier worst case scenario (replace all internal components) is still ony £570 so much less than any new part.

£570, just go for it mate, get both done and then you dont have to worry about it for another 10 years.

As soon as Mark at TWG motorsport gets over his illness. Will try and get pictures.

(of the turbo, not his ailment)

Latest news - One Turbo good as new, shipped back to TWG for refitting. The old unit is coming back as well, so should have some gruesome internal shots....

Turbo back in fine fettle - full rebuild. Will get pictures of failed unit when I collect the car. Might even shoot in there on Saturday.

Now need three items for MOT, prices quoted researched quickly by my good mates at TWG motorsport.

ABS sensor £65
front O/S spring £220
N/S intermediate exhaust pipe £200 (on back order)

ABS will just get the proper part, probably the same for spring.
Tempted to get a custom pipe made in stainless, thoughts?

Whats wrong with the ABS sensor? Mine has an intermittent fault when I travel at 120mph + on a private airfield I have access to. The abs/asr light comes on and stays on until I restart the car. Its a bit worrying but I guess at 120mph asr doesn't do much anyway!

I think I read somewhere that the sensor might just need a clean?
