What A Moose of a Car

Hi Guys,

I am sure many of you have seen this, but I hadn't.

Its probably a good car in terms of performance and interior ... but on the outside it just looks like a moose. It clearly does not help when it follows possibly the most attractive sedan car for many many decades...

I would not buy it at any price... this is clearly developing cars for the chinese market and it shows... so in those terms it might be a success, but I don't expect to see many of these in europe... Lets hope this is not the best of what is to come for the new maserati platform that Fiat have set for the maserati brand. I am very concerned Fiat are about to destroy one of the most classic brands of all time...... I just wish Fiat would give maserati back to ferrari to manage.... ferrari saved maserati and everytime they do something which is not pure Ferrari to these cars it just keeps missing the mark slightly... My Audi S8 is a far better car than this and its 7 years older in design terms... its lambo DNA and engine just set it apart...

heres another clip for those who can understand dutch... otherwise just watch the clip..

Ozzie, just agree with you....I just can not warm to the shape one little bit....The top still just makes it look...as you say...a moose.....The proportiuons are just all wrong, even the front andf bonnet......Then you add an Audi rear and it all falls apart....So sad...

Agree, very sad. But what is it about the cars Maserati launch and release for press review - insipid colour schemes don't do it any favours. That pale bronze (= sell by date expired salmon mousse) is awful and another in one of the videos is the exciting combo of pale grey interior on pale grey exterior ....or am I missing some up to the minute car fashion trend :)

TBH, I think it's a good car. Maserati have to move the brand on and they have obviously decided that this is the best way forward. If it sells, it may well save the company and if it does, then they will, no doubt, introduce more Euro type performance cars. In isolation, it sounds like a good car and let's face it, the last QP has its shortcomings. I seem to remember when TopGear tested it against the Panamera and Rapide it was the worst of the three but was saved by its charm and was the one they would've had. Perhaps this has got charm and, IMO, until we have driven one personally we aren't really qualified to slate it as much as we are. For me, 8/10.

Personally I wouldnt buy it but if it sells like hot-cakes in China and Russia and helps bank-roll the development of more sports-oriented cars then I'm all for it. But as per Norman's comment, the press team probably couldn't have conjured up a more bland choice of colours!

The marque aint safe yet....despite their dreams of increasing sales....8 fold in two years.............but if they even increas by 3 fold will go a long way to Maserati regaining more independence.

It might grow on me.....time will tell

That back end will never grow on me......They have just followed the pack....Thats just doesn't seem the way of Maserati styling...I can not forgive them for the way this car looks.

I think we are being a bit harsh guys......as per the German way of doing things, constant refinement and improvements are the proven way to go.......its still very recognisably a QP.........just lost a couple of styling points.......................the GTs rear wasn't well recieved either if I remember!!!!!!

Frank I agree....continued refinement and improvements are the way to go and I'm sure the new QP nails it....but they have not improved the way it looks and that's travesty for what was the best looking saloon car on the market.

Too German-ish... But what an output??

Maserati wants to become more popupar, wants to make bigger sales...past model's owners won't be unique anymore :-(

They have to win over the high end saloon owners...German, British marque previous owners...........plus prove reliable and good residuals....repeat customers make you successful after that

I'm not bowled over by it, but if it keeps Maserati in business, I'm all for it.

The wheels look great.
If I had the money and the choice, it'll definitely be the Maserati on the grounds that I like something sporty and not simply a CEO's drive.

It's also the marque though. Apart from corporate buyers, who doesn't buys a car with their heart.
Yep I've considered a Jag before but my wife cared to inform me we're not grandparents yet, I've persuaded her otherwise since, but the Maserati says Italian sports car and it has 4 doors as well!
And again, just look at those wheels.

Can not see them past the Audi rear end.......Sorry I know I'm giving it a hard time but the QP was always one of my all time fav cars and now this new model has just dropped it way, way, way down the list....
