I'd spend £25K on a decent second hand QP, and find something else to do with the rest of the cash!!

I'm sure its a very good car (but then again nearly every car made today is a very good car)..... but for me the point of Maserati is to make beautiful, enigmatic cars.... if it aint that, IMO it aint a Maserati....

Well......on occasions they are cutting edge, trend setters........but not always...over the decades they have gone with the flow too, not been ground breakers, usually done with plenty of style, but not every model in either range......sorta been "of their day" really....

It is still very much a QP.......based on previous model, but updated in a number of areas...to build on its success, why deviate too far from a successful look/engine/performance combo?

Well, Maserati should think themselves lucky, after you see the 'hideousnous' that is Lancia these days.

Lancia....has been chipped away at since the late 60s when FIAT took them over...................so its now just a name to be used and abused....Lanysler's they are now with a small L.....:(

I'd love to be put in charge of Lancia, just to 'sort that <deletive expletive>' out!

I think if Maserati designed this car for Chinese market then they will be wrong. Maserati needs to design the car based on what they are. Wealthy Chinese go thru brands very quickly and they always want something different and stand out. Look at the amount of chinese tourists in each country now and their purchasing power of any luxury goods. I heard one of reasons Maserati sold well in the last few years was becuase wealthy Chinese don't want to German cars anymore becuase it is too common. German cars becomes the middle class range. I wouldnt be surprised if China becomes biggest market for Aston, Jag and Roll Royce. (or probably already are ????)

Saw this article re Alfa 4C and mentioned a little about design and China market.

For Alfa Romeo the plan is to have an individual car that has a very sporty, emotional design. I think we have to design cars for Alfa Romeo, not for the market as such. If you look at Maserati in China, sales are going well but the car is not designed for China. People buy because they identify with what a Maserati is. If we are true to Alfa Romeo, people will appreciate what makes the brand special, wherever they live.’

On the other hand, isnt that simliar to Maserati launched 4200 in US and got ride of 3200 Boomerang lights to suit American. And now I have got a GS myself so does it mean I have American taste. ???? I'm confused now. :frusty6:

I am Frank....There is similar and down right copy.........Maserati is all about identity and making a car look German and adding a Maserati grill is just shocking....

Didn't say they wanted to make it look German.....or perform like a merc etc.......again.......they took a risk with the very different coupes and size of QP when first marketed.....now they know their cars are sought after...taking a risk again............wanting to quadruple sales in 2 years..........as ever in business, no risk, no gain
