That does seem a tad high, mine was on 59% at 36k miles ( when i bought it) and 62% at 41K miles recently.
However, the readouts aren't thought to be gospel, so its quite possible it will read the same in a few K miles!

The clutch readings are very dependent on who has done the service, or if an accurate reset has been done..!! If this has been reset by someone who does not know what they are doing, it could be miles out..!!

Thanks guys, I think I will just have to drive and enjoy, and worry about the clutch when I have to.

Agree with both these statements. As a guide, mine claimed to be about 48% worn when I got it at 19k miles. I'm now at 30k and the last reading (around Oct, I think) showed 60% wear. It was a London car for the first three years of its life so may have spent too long slipping the clutch. It may also have been driven in auto, which will kill the clutch.

The two questions are:

1. Is the reading accurate?
2. When will it need replacing?

There's no hard and fast rule on the second. The wear reading will give you a broad-brusk indication but not much more than that. Mine could hand on for another 20k miles or it might start to show signs of needing replacing this summer. What I can't bloody well work out is whether to get it done pre-anniversary or post.

I think my approach will be to wait until it show early signs of slipping rather than proactive replacement. I am led to believe that the signs are the same as in a manual car with no additional issues as long as you act quickly to replace it when it does start to use higher RPM to get going or less sharp gear changes.
