@outrun notified me that the footage of my car was used at the start of this episode. James said he does a few things for discovery channel now. Really need to watch the episode though.

Just never really thought about it, certainly not seen one in action. I get it just burns off the paint but the accuracy and at speed is amazing.

Sure is. I had a mate years back (probably 15+) who was in the business of custom made plastic for displays and studios and so on. He showed me his new toy, which could take the nap off velvet. Demonstrated by creating a copy of Warhol's Marilyn on velvet.....

I also recall that Psion 3 keys were laser etched :)

Clutch, actuator and pump all replaced, heater matrix done and sticky buttons done, new tyres quite a few of the big spend items addressed. Mention of suspension squeaks could be wishbone related which is the other big spend on these but if the price is right could be a good useable car with few surprises

I wonder what it will make but if it needs suspension there could be another big Bill ahead.
The Coupe 4200 still one of the best looking along with the QPV in my opinion.

Tbh the suspension was OK from a functional point of view, it was just very squeaky. Their listing however missed out the main issue I handed it back - the faulty ignition. They may have fixed it and fair play to them if they have. There were an excellent team to deal with, fair and honest.

Up for sale again - a short lived affair?

Hi, I was the previous owner of this car (I.e. the buyer on the show). I ended up handing the car back due to issues which we could not get fix nor get parts for. The WD team were very fair and honorable and the main fault renderd the car potentially unusable. Its not me selling it BTW- its the entity on behalf of the TV company.

I was gutted to have to hand it back, but I was quoted literally thousands to resolve the issues, which stemmed around the ignition system and an intermittent fault causing the electrics to not operate, even though the car ran. There are no new ignition barrels and associated parts worldwide(!) In the dealer network, and only one blank key left in the world through Maserati! The dealer network is a crock of shite tbh. We would have had to bypass the ignition, which would be in the 000's and lots of electrical work...and no guarantees! They do not mention this on the listing, so maybe they have fixed it (!) ..but we tried for a couple of months and dealers said they could do nothing / tirned it away.

The mirrors are a pain - they pan the wrong way with each reverse...we all tried to sort it, but again no parts available and the part we did use worked then failed...so obviously some electrical gremlins.

I drove it for maybe 200 miles, and I was gutted to hand her back, but hey ho!

Sorry to hear that and it wasn't for the want of trying.

Let's hope that they have indeed fixed it - maybe the new owner will end up on here and we will get an update

I hope that this hasn't put you off the brand though, but whetted your appetite for the next one?!

Hi,
Thanks for that :) Yes, I genuinely loved the car and I would have kept it at a reduced price if parts and mechanics were not charging the value of the car to fix things! WD tried their best to fix it, but it was just uneconomical. It's the way of the world, and why good cars end up as scrappers for parts :(

I'm not sure what I'm getting next!

That a shame. The upper steering column is Alfa 166, so no doubt someone could / has sorted it. Main dealers don’t know these cars anymore, they just want to throw parts at them.
