I briefly toyed with the idea of it before Mrs allandwf said " oh a yellow midlife crisis car" that was that then! lolAgreed. But is there more to this car than meets the eye (apart from the obvious)? Has anyone been to se e it?

Strad all day long.
On one of the above statements "it's trying to be a race car" I have to disagree I'm afraid. I don't think it is. The steel brakes on the std car are shyte so the carbon make sense to me and the slight bit of weight saving is neither here nor there. I think it's still one of the best GT cars there is with looks and sound to die for but in my eye's it was never made to be a race car weighing in at nearly 2 tonne?
Yes I think they where probably trying to sell more after raiding the trofeo parts bin. I'm lead to believe the Strad weighs in 110kg lighter but as I said that is here nor there. I still cant believe the 4 seater is said to weigh the same as the 2 seater? With those enzo seats and the lack of the rear seat cannot add up to a carbon bonnet surely?A good disagreement is perfectly agreeable
Much of what you have highlighted underlines my point of view though. It's a GT car. Perhaps better to have said trying to give the "impression" of being a racing car. I understand the appeal of edgier styling but its not to my taste and, imho, hardly an improvement on earlier models. Weight saving (carbon bonnet - really), roll cages, ceramic disks, Enzo seats, lowered & fixed rate suspension and the pièce de résistance Corsa tyres that are useless anywhere but a track. All considerations to give buyers the sense of owning a racing car.
Granted they do sound fabulous but then so do most Maserati.

10psDoesn't the 4 seater have slightly more power to make up for the additional weight it carries, even with the carbon bonnet?
I've heard a story about this one as well.I've seen it a number of times when my car was in and out of Giallo's with them trying to fix the oil leak. They've had it over a year now I think.

Yeash but 100kg is just like carrying a fat lad in the passenger seat. I don't think you'd really tell the difference in performance if chubby was there or not, maybe 0.1 of a second to 60? Handling maybe a little too but surely not that noticable? The 2 seat Strad has a plastic bonnet. As for the other bits, regardless of intent, the carbon seats are much more comfortable, few have the roll cage, the carbon brakes are night and day to the standard set up and the fixed suspension is an improvement from the skyhook in both ride (admittedly always firm, but never crashy) and handling. The tyre situation is easily resolved.
In terms of the weight saving being neither here nor there, it makes a big difference. This is a fact of physics rather than an opinion, esp in the lower gears. It also improves economy - as evidenced on the MOB trip where I was at least a tank ahead of one std GTS at the same speeds.
Is it trying to be a race car? Not really, it’s still too comfortable. Is it GTS+? Yes. Although some GTS do have the passive suspension which goes some way to making it up. As for the noise, it is true that all sound very very good, but this is also a step up.
Based on my experience of driving both and all in my opinion!
