Whitstable - anyone know it?

Mrs Scaf has booked us a couple of days on the Kent coast later this week which should be nice.
Problem is we are struggling to find decent restaurants that are not already booked up, looking for some local knowledge?
Any help most appreciated.

Samphire is quite good. Ate there, plus several of the beach seafood places (e.g. Lobster Shack) on a weekend break to Whitstable last September.
We also went to the Simpsons Vineyard for a tasting, which was fun and not too distant.

Also ate here, but I can’t make out the name of the restaurant from the blurred pic of the menu. Excellent simple seafood, plus decent Provençal rose.

Thanks Ewan, this one we have booked already, table at 5pm or 9pm (we are booked at 9pm but still looking for a better option time wise).

There the fish market place which is by the docks. Its a takeaway spot, but in my opinion serves some of the best food. You just queue up.
  • fresh oysters only
  • fresh fish simply battered

Its the place I've been to countless times.

After eating some fresh seafood, head to The Neptune pub.
They have indoor and outdoor seating, serve food and if its sunny will have a BBQ going.
Their beer garden is, uniquely, on the beach. This is definitely my favourite place in Whitstable.

Sounds fab. We're heading there in Spetember.

Few years since last been, but the Crab and Winkle on the Quay and the bar/restaurant of the Continental hotel were both excellent

We are staying at the continental so it’s good to know the restaurant is an option

Pearson arms was alway my favourite (decent food/service and atmosphere), the whitstable oyster company is quite nice too, as already mentioned crab and winkle above the market at the harbour and Wheelers also have a good reputation, continental is ok too (we once stayed in the "retro" place they have), during the day posibly the castle (not sure when they stop serving), samphire has a decent reptutation, as does the sportsman but not been to either, Rose and Bloom can also be ok. In Tanerton Jojo's is nice and have also had a nice meal in the Marine Hotel.

For a lunch stop some of the places along the beach that do Donuts / Oysters are quite nice (between pearsons and harbour)

A short drive to Faversham is Read's but as others have said the challenge will be finding somewhere not already booked. Enjoy your trip. And if the car breaks down, at least AV Engineering is nearby.

Thanks for the various hints and tips, we now have lots of foodie ideas to explore.
Weather is looking very promising, work has been manic so I really hope to chill for a few days.
