Why didnt Maserati stick the 580bhp engine in the Stradale?

Interested in hearing more about the AV ECU tweak? Is it just a remap?

I read somewhere a while ago that AV had stopped taking on new Maserati customers?
Just a remap. But yes, I think AV are full with Ferrari clients, they certainly were a while back.

Was studying a Cali and a Strad side by side. The twin intake plenums on the Cali would go on the Strad then wire the throttle bodies together. Not sure what difference it would make but air in quicker and more of it.

Only bit I could not be sure of was if the bonnet would shut

This is getting interesting.

I can get new the TB’s for £150 each and new plenums for £300 each

I suspect the one Strad TB is the same so you only need one more

plus vat

Is the Ferrari plenum internally valved?

Unless you increase the TB diameter the engine won’t get anymore air, it “might” flow better but in simplistic terms the surface area of the TB the engine sees is unchanged unless each cylinder can access both TBs

I think because of the different cranks, separate inlets won’t work very well out of the box.

The chap who put a 4.7 in a TVR fitted a 100mm TB and got close to 500 bhp. He had the advantage of a throttle cable and a manual gearbox so simple mapping and an aftermarket system.

There seem to be a few 102mm drive by wire throttle bodies for LS engines. I reckon getting a GTS manifold and grafting one of those on would be an interesting development, also with the required mapping.

That’s an interesting point, because of the crank each bank of the Ferrari engine is like a 4 cylinder where as in the Maserati each bank is like a 3 cylinders and single cylinder joined together like most American v8s. That’s why the GT40 exhausts had two exhaust outlets crossover from each bank to the other to maintain an even exhaust scavenging on each bank. 105427

Well, Matt, count me in if you can improve what is the max bhp at present !!
Not sure what affect it will have but the Cali is 1750kg, 4.3 version of the GTS engine and does 0-60 in 4 dead with 450hp

granted the crank is different and from looking at it the variator system on the heads looks different.

The 2 Strads have the AV remap putting out 485hp already
