Window not going up all the way

My drivers side window has developed a fault, it drops like it should when opening the door but when I close the door the window judders and rattles but doesn't go back up. I can get it to almost go right the way to the top but there is always a gap. I can manually get it to the top with the door open by pulling the glass.
Before I start dismantling the door, I was wondering if anyone had experienced or replaced the window mechanism on a 3200? I suspect that either a guide is loose/misaligned or the motor has no teeth but any other thoughts, things to look out for would be appreciated.

Its your window regulator, its stripped the nylon gears at the point where it closes...and has the most pressure on it.

New one I am afraid mate.

Keep the old one as the microswitch is useful.

I think I did manage to convert an Alfa GTV one years back on my 3200, it was a bit of a faff though.

Oh, and here is Loz's guide to help you. Once you have the card off, its simple to figure out:

http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/348-4200-GranSport-Doorcard-Removal

Then:
1. Remove the polythene cover
2. Lower the window to mid point and undo the two yellow blocks that attach the regulator to the glass
3. Remove the glass out the top
4. Unbold the regulator and remove via the lower aperture. You may have to open and expand the regulator to a point where it fits through.

Be careful not to bash the inside of the outer skin as you will end up with reverse parking dings!

i used window motors from the 4200 it requires considerable work to make them fit but they are much stronger than the 3200 ones which strip the nylon gears quite easily

The new price of £400 seems excessive from Eurospares..... Looking at the GTV faffing option, what's involved Matt do you remember? They look pretty similar

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Rome...621638?hash=item5428e92806:g:PgAAAOSwfZ1WapoB

I would probably get a new one rather than 2nd hand as I don't want the same fault to appear in a few months time, just want to make sure this looks like the right bit?

If i go this route I'll do a pictorial for the archives :)

Looking at Eurospares site it seems the same part is shared on the 3200 / 4200....

An update on this, on mine the teeth on the window mechanism had been chewed up by the teeth on the motor, I bought a new motor before removing the old one thinking that would be the thing at fault, so I now have 2 spare window motors....

I got a replacement complete regulator assembly from a scrap dealer £110 delivered. Fitted it at the weekend, not too much fuss except getting the thing aligned....
