John, it's probably worth buying one as they tend to get used whenever we meet up. Also, if you don't want to keep it, you could probably sell it on here for £65-70.

Yeah I would get 1 no need for 2 as pretty much everyone else has one.

Also suggest you bring ear plugs and a pair of headphones / radio. So you can tune into race radio when you are there.

Or you buy a race radio when you are there. But I still suggest you bring a pair of headphones to plug into.

Also some basics like:
Red triangle
Reflective vests
Breathlisers stick (though it might not be mandatory now. I think they recinded it)
Check your car insurance covers Europe fully comp. most only cover 3rd party so you may have to pay an additional fee (mine was £40)
Copy of your insurance certificate and V5
Road side recovery if you think you might need it (I am with green flag)
Umbrella / waterproofs
Chair(if you don't want to sit on the floor)
Hat / sun tan lotion
A well lined stomach with alcohol consumption adjusted

Buy a pair they are good use together outside of the forum with the kids and stuff.

Having 1 renders it useless outside the forum.

Have to say I was really disappointed with the range of the walkie talkies. Their suggested range is not realistic at all.

Suggested range is clear line of site with no objects in the way. So hill top to hill top if you like. As soon as you put glass, metal, walls and even trees and the like in the way then the range is seriously reduced.

Matt, my kids are grown up and will/have left home by the time of Le Mans, and we have mobile phones that cost £3 a day to use when out of the UK, to me it is far cheaper that paying £180 for walkies that will only get used once a year.

I do have some radios that I used to use when doing long trips on the bikes, they weren't cheap so will dig them out and see if they can communicate, I'll try and do this today, can anyone bring a radio down to the Ace tomorrow to check it out?

Hodroyd has the roof mounted aerial, makes a lot of difference.

You only hear Benny and his foul mouth so interference is most welcome I find.

It is still a legal requirement though. Admittedly the chances of getting fined are remote but for the sake of a few £ I like to know "Les Plod" won't get ars*y.

Le Plod loves getting ar5ey with Brits visiting Le Mans, it use to be that each village would top up it's income by issuing on the spot fines but the last few years this seems to have cooled down with less of them out and about

We had a blast with them Sparts.....great fun, the year before without radios but bland in comparison...highlight of using radios for me was last year, the minute we came off the ferry, Benny "my wheels are falling off" so 1 min into France we pulled over to help him out
