That is a shame to hear, I have driven several Ghibli diesels and have found them fine - there are certainly many worse cars available and the auto gearbox is excellent too

Apparently it has all sorts of electrical gremlins, I need to speak to him when when a bit sober and see if can find out more details and see if can help.....god know's why i feel i must..

There seems to be some topic shift going on. I thought this was about the Granturismo. On that basis surely Doug's comments would be largely applicable to that car. Old uncompetitive technology, trading on badge reputation. 18my notwithstanding, what would he make of the 15 year old Infotainment system that began life with Citroen before they moved on?!?
To comment on his review of the Ghibli, unfortunately the U.K. market equivalent - Ghibli S does struggle at its price point against the rivals. For me the Diesel does what it needs to do within its peer group well enough. After all stuck in traffic or a speed camera monitored motorway does any degree of performance really matter whether your in a Ford Mondeo or a Ghibli. For me the fact that the car looks different from the fleets of 5 Series or 'executive mini cab' E Class.
Finally the fact it's a Maserati at a reasonable price with the cache that brings is for owners like me is great. My car before discount was about £68k, everyone thinks it's £100,000 plus with a V8, who am I to disappoint them with the truth!!
As an ex Jaguar owner of over twenty years, I couldn't help feel regret at the albeit relative cheapening of the brand with XE and owners of Peugeots Fords etc quite rightly buying their first Jaguar. It sounds like I am being a snob, but is it that different from those that say Maserati shouldn't have introduced the Ghibli and Levente?

I would agree with keith if the depreciation on them wasn't horrific. Nice looking cars and certainly look better to the general public than the German counterparts.
The fact that you can now buy a 2-3 year old maserati with not many miles for sub 30k has to be bad for exclusivity of the marque. There are 200 for sale online with 25+ sub 30k.
There are some real bargains on there - some with 20 inch Uranos, full carbon packs and paddles etc.
One wonder what price they will be in 2-3 years.

Anyhoo back on topic

"As promised, here is the link for the configurator so that you can have a bit of a play with specification and get an idea as to the changes.
http://www.maserati.co.uk/maserati/...nfigurator?modelName=GTSPauto#/main/exteriors
*
From what I can see on the system, your current car is a Granturismo S, one of the changes now are that there are 2 different models available, the Granturismo S and the Granturismo MC.
*
Here are the main changes;
Biggest styling change is the new ‘sharknose’ hexagonal grille, flanked by two large air intakes. Together with a revised rear bumper and exhaust outlets, this improves airflow, cuts drag and looks amazing.
The interior features the finest Italian Poltrona Frau leather, with the option of combining with Alcantara. Updated infotainment technology includes a new rotary controller, 8.4” screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Audiophile brand Harman Kardon provides the sound.
The addictive growl of the 4.7-litre V8 is still yours to enjoy, with improved acceleration figures of 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds for the GranTurismo Sport and 4.7 seconds for the lighter GranTurismo MC.
*
In regards to starting prices, everything is all under wraps at current so as I mentioned on the phone, feel free to send me over a spec if you were needing to get it priced.
We’re expecting the Granturismo to have a starting price of around £93,000 and the MC or around £109,000."

Just one final word from me on the Ghibli, I like them and when they come down below £20k I'll be looking at one as a daily.

Sounds like he has a Sunday car. Shame.

I liked my Ghibli a lot and like Matt, I'd be very happy with one as a daily when they hit £20k. But only a petrol one, the diesel has no point unless you're doing 20k miles, which i am not.

I would have a petrol Ghibli at 20k for a daily too. But you must admit its saying something to 'like' them so much you would only pay 20k for one.
Just saying..

That's not what I'm saying. I bought one for £45k and didn't feel short changed. It's more that to run a Stradale as well as a ghibli would be pricy however when the ghibli becomes cheaper, the impact will be less and hence the affordability will work better with my man maths calculator.

I followed one on the M40/A404 yesterday and rather liked the rear view. However Mrs Eb called the colour muddy brown - sort of bronze that change colour depending on the angle. Certainly looks better than the crowd. I was in the smoker though.

Ghibli etc have taken Maserati into a lower price point but there are still so few of them around that I don't think they devalue the brand. Ghibli residuals are actually no worse than competitor cars and there was nothing on the US youtube review that would put me off one but then maybe I am blinded by Maserati having bought my first in 2001?

I agree they need to increase the power which I am surprised they did not do for 2018MY after the modest hike in the lower petrol engine for 2017MY. The S is still on 410PS when the same engine has 430PS in the Levante but then that has a pointless 300kg of extra lard to pull around. The diesel could do with a twin turbo option too.

I'll stick with the admittedly quite poor Bose system and keep the £68,000 difference to what I paid.

Tempted by the Stradale bonnet, quite liked that. Guessing the better part of £5k incl painting though

My visit to the Maserati stand at Goodwood...

I thought the infotainment on the 2018 looks better in person than in photos and I personally appreciate real buttons for which I can feel whilst driving without having to avert eyes from the road. Looks are pretty nice on both GT and GC but it's a shame the engine outputs are not uprated. They also sounded good on the hill.

I did come away thinking that Maserati are now doing a much better job with marketing. The stand was pretty decent, the staff well briefed in knowledge. They also did a nice job with the bubbly, caviar, tea and nibbles in the hospitality.
The poster picture they gave is also rather nice and I'm likely to frame it.

I'm hopeful that they're on their way up again.

Well that deserves a well done Maserati at least.

Yeah, forgot to mention that, the poster is lovely and I'll be framing mine too. The stand and overall presence was impressive I thought with nice hospitality, although the limited edition bulgari watch didn't look the greatest.

I thought of that Matt.. they are really nice. Best off buying a Strad for 6 something. You can get cheaper ones from China on ebay which take 8 weeks to ship and they could be made of paper mache when they arrive... or not arrive at all.
