I have a broken one. Do they pry out from the front or does the door card need to come off. Any tips? Thanks

They just pop off, they have 3 lugs that usually break at 12, 4 and 7 o'clock.

Thanks guys. So a flat head screwdriver slid down the side and some gentle pressure?

yup, tabs are easy broke. my passenger door one is held on by one and a bit tabs...........could change it but being so loose it is good to "train" fiona to close the door gently:saifi3:

You could be onto something there Greg. When you change it, please post it to me so I can train my passengers

Eurospares keep them and they are not that expensive, I have replaced 3 of mine as the lugs were broken off. yes they just prise off, be careful as they are easily broken and the panel they press into is generally not quite the right shape, so each one is an adventure!

Ah, if you get it right, the tabs won't break. There are three. Two that are L-shaped and one that is wedge shaped. Find the wedge shaped one and gently pry that out, then you can lift the L-shaped lugs away without issue.

They only go back properly one way as well. If I recall, the wedge lug is at the top, so you slot the L lugs into the slots in the door card at the bottom, then push the wedge in at the top

Make sense?

I assume we are talking about the tweeter here and not the main bass unit in the door? Mine both dropped off so glued them back on. Simple fix really.

Well I was talking about the bass units, but the tweeters are similar. Can't recall the exact lay out. 99% of the time it's the same. There's a non-destructive way, but unless you know what it is, the destructive way becomes the norm. Christmas tree plugs are one of the things that spring to mind. With the right tool you can get them out with little or no damage, until they go brittle with age. Most of the time we just go in with a screw driver, though :)

I was talking about the bass units. Thanks for that very helpful description Catman. The one I'm removing is broken but I'd still rather remove it carefully. Waiting for Eurospares to deliver the new one :)
