Another spanner been chucked in the works by the DVSA, they hadn't transferred the MOT to the new vehicle. This was done just now.
But could take 7 days to transfer! FFFFFS!!!!!!!

Then once that has been done, I can then tax the car, and then put my number plate on the car.

Surely there is a quicker easier way of doing this?

Apparently the DVSA's system doesn't update automatically. What computer system do they have? a ZX Spectrum?

Don't worry about it they normally put a slip in with it saying they don't transfer the registration number to the MOT they just update their records, so you will be totally legal driving it, trust me, if I can find my documents about this then wills scan and upload.

Not looking good for me now. The GTS has a problem with the passenger front door lights (they keep coming on at random times and therefore flattening the battery) so it needs to go back to Emblem. And the Evo is in storage in Leicestershire. So there's a fair chance I'll be Maser-less come the 11th. Not happy.

Sorry to hear that mate? Do you want to buy a decent one back? :D

Found the info for you as attached: -

The problem isn't the mot nor the number plate the mot is attached to, as the chassis number is on both.
The problem is that the mot isn't actually linked to my car. So as far as the dvla records show, the car has no mot.
This is down to a cock up by the dvsa. And as all the records are now on computer, no one applies any common sense.

Without that I can't tax the car.

Sorry Mark to say, but the recent exchanges are blooming funny if you were sat here too...

Have to say that Birdy does liven things up :jptongue: - entertainment after a hard day at work.

I do hope he doesn't get shown the red card again!

It does beg the question how Geoff got the car back home from the North?!

It was insured, and as the ownership hadn't been transferred, in order that the previous owner could remove his plate, it was therefore still taxed and I was able to drive it.

If you had been stopped you wouldn't have been taxed, as soon as you sign that V5 , the old tax ceases in the eyes of the law and DVLA. Hard to prove but still a technicality I wouldn't want to argue.

On who's insurance though, I only ask as we had the discussion the other day where you could drive other cars 3rd party if fully comp, but I was of the opinion that had been scuppered on new policies!!

Well, turn up Thursday and earn yourself a bit of credibility, if you are looking for sympathy its between sh1t and syphillis in the dictionary!!

Who said I'm not going? Shame you're not there to buy me a thankyou drink. Btw my car will be correctly registered, will have valid insurance as well as tax and MOT. It will be completely LEGAL. It won't look like a stevie wonder special order either :lol2:
