Of course the other option is to book it in for an MOT near the ACE ultimately that is where you are heading! :D

Looks like I won't make it. I'd hatched a couple of perfect plans to get myself in the vicinity but in all likelihood they'll turn out to be shite and not watertight at all.

Mark; just take it for a new MOT with the new plates on it, if the insurance has transferred to the new plates, get a booking and go for it, if you have the paper MOT it will tax fine at a local office... We'll have you spitting feathers yet!

How did you discover the problem, was it trying to tax it? The MOT system is realtime so if they are onto it because you have reported it, you can keep checking the online system maybe?

This is where it gets tricky.

It's now insured with my private plate on it.
The Mot is on the previous owners private plate.
The V5 is on the original number plate.

I discovered the problem trying to tax it online. The MOT system isn't real time (well that is what I was told this morning).

I'll get there!

The V5 is on the original number plate.

So if I have understood the above.

Get some plates made up on the V5, then whip it down the road and get it MOT'd on the that plate, adjust the insurance accordingly and then nip into the post office with all three bits of paperwork and tax it.

Easy peasy

When does the MOT run out?

If it's relatively soon just get it MOT'd with the current/original plates.
Then go to the post office with the V5 AND MOT and tax it.
Then go on line and do the reg swap using the brand new MOT.
Then get in car, drive to Ace.

Sorted.

Easy, but expensive.

New plates. £40.
Mot £25
Insurance Adjustment (twice) £100 (yes they really charge £50 per adjustment).

Total £165.

And I can't put my plate on a car without an MOT. So that wouldn't work either!
The old MOT has run out!
Or I wait for the DVLA to update their MOT system. I can tax it online, and then transfer my plate. Cost. zero!

Hopefully this will be before Thursday.

It's all under control Dan. ;)

I don't see problems, I just see obstacles to overcome before I get the solution.

The moaning is regarding the DVSA not doing what they should have 2 weeks ago.

To wipe the smile of Birdsh1ts face, money well spent

I can do that without spending a penny! I just have to turn up!
If it's not in the Maser I'll just bring the proof of ownership. Something he won't be able to do.
It's all irrelevant as he won't turn up anyway.

Out of interest what happened to the water pump ?
Are the replacing the whole unit like I did on my Project 4200.
Cheer's Phil.
It seized and it's a complicated bit of kit as its also forms part of the air-con and heating system. No easy replacement parts available for the Ghibli so it needed to be rebuilt. Have done the same with the brake booster and alternator. Maserati don't support classics so when you have a part failure it can mean weeks or months off the road. My car is 75% restored but now finding some original components are failing after sitting for 20 years without use. Hopefully will have it back this week but let's see.

Had similar problem, take it to the PO and they can override most of the stuff that happens online. You may be surprised.
