Hi All,

Re the F1 pump relay, I bought one of the Alfa ones that Loz reported, p/n 11130287, and they are 4-pin as opposed to 5-pin on my car, however the 4 pins are all that's needed as the extra pin is the 87a that would be the normally closed contact. The other difference is that the connections for the power are quite a bit wider than the slots they should go in, so I cut them down. This would imply that the relay is made for a higher current than the original one, however once cut down to the same size as the original ones the relay did the job, at least in terms of working the F1 pump.
By the way, none of the relay suppliers I emailed replied to my messages, so in spite of spending ages researching, I haven't found a source of the original relay or any equivalent. I don't really consider something you have to modify as really being an equivalent, although I've made it work.
Did anyone else manage to make this relay do the job? Changing the base would work as well, but I didn't want to do that. Eurospares now quote the relay as being in-stock at something like £38 so the price has come down a bit, however the above relay cost me under £7!

Hi Loz,

Maybe you could post a photo of the base? I assume the Alfa relay is the 4 terminal one with the wide tabs? Perhaps someone put a different relay socket in my car then, it's a 2003 car. Anyway, with a little manipulation it worked.

Cheers,

Alan

Hi,

Here are a couple of pictures of the relays in case anyone's interested. The fist one is of the relay socket in my car (2003 4200) and the second is of three relays, on the left the 5-pin Tyco one from the car, in the middle the wide-blade 4-pin Alfa part that won't fit my socket, and on the right the same with cut down blades so it fits. That's in the car now and has worked fine for the last 2 weeks.

Bill......were the links making any noises at all? I know you can replace the bushes, don't think the anti-roll bar is too expensive, have a look on Eurospares site.

Excellent news David. It does sound like we are too far away to gain any advantage for buying FD discs, but watch this space, I do have some news coming shortly on that front.

Conaero, was there something else of same news as Noor had re FD discs and pads?

Frank, no, the news coming was that, that Noor has just published. About 6 months ago, Noor and I were talking about a joint venture, but in the end, I helped him out with some design and left him to it, and as they say, the rest is history.

Thanks for that guys. To be quite honest there is not any knocking so I might leave for a while. On another matter...... For all you 3200 people out there don't forget the throttle body upgrade to contactless I do. I have done nearly 5k miles now with not a single CEL! pm me if you need more details

Guys, as I was in Belfast today and had my car at an ex-Ferrari/Maserati trained mechanics garage getting my brakes checked over as I suspected my handbrake had given up the ghost; sure enough the shoes were in bits and had damaged a part of the securing mechanism by which they are fitted ( hopefully get a 2nd part this week to repair).

I then took the shoes personally to Belfast brakes to be met by Gary who was delighted to meet an actual sportmaserati member in the flesh!!!!

He has been delighted with the take up by members of both relined shoes and the greengripper pads.

I had just the previous day taken possession of a slightly less than perfect rear brake disc and left it with him so it could be measured on Monday to tell me if they can get them made and done at a special price for our members......he didn't seem to think there would be any problem whatsoever....fingers crossed! Secondly, if they can make them, they can also make fronts too but they would need a disc to work from.

Good work Frank very interested to hear the outcome , did you ask for prices grooved/ drilled and then both grooved and drilled , i have a spare front disc , it might get sold but if its still available when they are ready i could always send it over

Yes Loz, comment was passed at the inadequacy of the design ie....small size of holes, not counter sunk, plus perhaps they can improve on them....discuss grooves etc

No probs if yours goes to someone, am sure there are a few more out there!

As mentioned in the other thread... Nice one P and thanks for taking the time out to do this. If Loz's front disk goes, I also have a spare. Regards, Miles.

Hats off to you Frank. I have a used set of fronts in my garage. They are very heavy, let's see how he gets on with the rears.
