Lol I agree. As nice as that would be it’s not that bad an offer. They have offered to do the discs and pads if they need doing. My offer was less than ask but I take it as it is and deal with it myself ( if the front discs and pads need doing then they are better off with my offer instead of fitting genuine parts) as I’ll be doing very little mileage the discs and pads as they are will serve me for a fair bit of time and I’d change at a later date.
The clutch something for me to take on the chin and factor in a have a 2.5k spend coming up.

Sounds like a good offer, if you go in knowing these will need doing at some point you won't be surprised but you might find you get 6-12 months or even more before the spend is necessary.

Exactly, its a kind of win win. they don't get the hassle and neither of us pay the privilege of main dealer genuine discs/pads/fitment. They get better value on there sale and I get something where I can offset a bit of the cost later on. Time will tell.

40k and I pay the additional cost of having the service done by a main dealer (they pay parts) so all in all at that its going to cost me 41kish + in the very near future a new clutch say 2.5k + new pads and discs all round 2.5k. It will stand me around 46k ish which I think seams a fair deal for both parties.

Sounds like a lovely Christmas present to myself lol (yes I did just mention the C word!)
Just had a service cost from a main dealer .. Major at £2900. The rep really should have snapped my hand off as the costs are stacking up. It’s heading towards a 50k car all said and done which is 14plate low milage teratory in my opinion. On the other hand at least I’d know that it had all been done and sorted with all being well not to many unknown surprises.

Have you had the car inspected by a specialist? If not, is there a reason why you couldn’t do this as part of the negotiation?

At the moment you are sensibly factoring in the costs you know about, or can reasonably expect to need to pay, but it would only take one or two unexpected items to turn this from being a well-priced decent deal into an expensive purchase?…

Thanks for the advise Jon, to be honest I can’t see the dealer ringing me back although if he does I will take the advise. Cheers

I would say it is priced about right. Or maybe a little high.

I sold mine. 2012 MC shift with 18k miles for £42,500.

Not a facelift. But nowhere near the need for a clutch replacement.

Cheers hoyin, it’s starting to look that way to me. I’m happy to pay full list if it gets new discs & pads and I’d consider part contribution to them having the service done by a main dealer (shame to loose it’s full main dealer history) obviously all subject to an independent inspection.
I’m going to put it to bed for a bit and see if they come back to me or just look out for the next one. (He says lurking on the forum banging on about it all day lol)

What about this private sale facelift. Been for sale a while and I'm not sure but I think it was for sale at a car dealer before this person bought it. Someone on here went to see it and I think it may have needed breaks as well but it's cheaper so would give the the difference to put right. I think it's a striking car in this combination and on the face of it a good price for a face lift car.

Thanks Andy, I have been pondering over this one for a little while although for some reason alarm bells are ringing, no particular reason it’s just a feeling, I suppose I should go and view it as it’s only about 20mins from my work. Besides that I have a huge secret carbon fetish. I’m in no major rush so I’m sure my dream car will come along.on the plus side the longer I wait/try to find, the more I’m saving

If the chap has had it for around 6 months then it's the car I'm talking about. It looks the same. Would obviously need an inspection. Can't remember who was looking but there is a thread on here some where if it's the same car. I'll see if I can find it.

Do you think having a service done (major) at the dealers (they will Mas stamp it and provide proof of purchase of materials from main dealer) with a view to get the next service done at main dealer is a big no no or am I being picky. I’m sure if I agreed to this they would be happy to have indi inspection also. Feel free to shout if I’m loosing the plot lol

Much more important for me would be having a decent independent specialist (of your choosing, not theirs) give the car a proper inspection and provide a detailed report.

If you had this and knew that the car was in good, well cared for, condition I personally wouldn’t be hugely bothered about where the service was done - as I think the only difference is probably the labour rate of the mechanics. On a service they are essentially doing a prescribed set of task (as per the service schedule) and if they are going to guarantee they will use OEM parts & materials, then I can’t really see the problem. Not sure I understand how they can provide a Maserati service stamp, but if they can then I can see that may help as well...

Pick another car that is comparable from the classifieds and go and look at it this weekend. If you still want the one at QCC you can then speak to them again on Monday.

Thanks Jon, if I agreed to them servicing it then yes id state that I send someone to look at it, do you feel this is something I could get a guy to go to their place and see it up on ramps or is it really something that needs to have the car sent to them? anyone got any recommendations to who would go.

One ball, thanks. I think I may go and see the grey one in Leyton today (that Andy suggested) as im local and not really free this weekend to view any others.

Thanks, I was trying to think of the name Phil had kindly mentioned and that's the one. Ive just had a call back from the dealer and it looks like we may be able to work something out. it all depends weather the discs and pads need doing, if they do and it comes with new then were nearly there.
