Depending on how highly polished they are done Frank , never as bright as chrome but very close , will never rust and its just a case of a quick rub with solvol autosol as and when they dull up a little but it take years to dull up , thats why its used on boats etc

Tracked down the plastic chrome versions but they only go up to 21mm..4200 needs 22mm. Bright zinc at my local platers was £20 for 20 bolts including heat treatment.

Dave that's a really god price if done properly! I paid £60 and thought I was getting a good deal. Other than the hassle of having the bolts off the car, it seems the way to go rather than caps.

I got so sick of my rusty nuts that I've bought a cheap set of hexagonal 22mm plastic nuts for a Vauxhall. Although far from perfect, they sort of complement the wheel colour of my car. ANYTHING is better than how they were.

I shall leave the final decision as to their worthiness to the guys at the Ace next week. Though, I may post a couple of photos tomorrow for you lot to slag off!

Here is a wheel with my cheapo plastic covers. They may well be extraordinarily hexagonal, but, at least the rusty bolts are now covered. I just wish that there were 22mm chrome covers out there. :(

Not bad at all. As you say, far better than rusty bolts, and a good colour too. I should say that my own preference would be to go for re-chroming, but I appreciate this is certainly more of a hassle, and doesn't last for ever anyway.

I think that looks good, very much suits the colour of your wheels.

I have continued to try to source 22mm chrome covers, but to no availa so far. I have another route I'm trying to follow, will report back when I know more.

Where did you get the plastic covers ? Went round to our Vauxhall dealer and they tell me there is nothing in their range that is 22mm AF. Will have a set of plastic until can get my bolts bright zinc plated.

Just found them on E Bay for £10.50 for an Insignia, friend is buying them for me as I don't have a Paypal account, will confirm their suitability

If you want the grey ones then look for the Insignia version on ebay, loads about and definitely 22mm. Apparently these are cheaper than the main dealers - no surprises there!

wheel nut covers

Have you managed to source these wheel nut covers at all??
As suggested by another member, I have started this as a new thread:

Chrome or black wheel nut covers for your Maserati, a significantly cheaper solution than re-chroming.

See this earlier thread for details:
http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/3498-How-do-you-like-your-nuts

I'm prepared to see if I can negotiate a group buy for Maserati owners. Wheel nut covers will be 22mm - please check this is correct for your car before you add your name. I reckon I'll need at least 10 to negotiate any sort of discount.

It never happened sadly. Seems that nobody makes them in 22mm. I searched everywhere, even speaking to potential manufacturers in China.

There are some dark grey 22mm versions which are made for the Vauxhall Insignia - available on ebay from time to time.

I'll just get them rechromed......never mind all the effect its supposed to have on the metal of the bolts!

I think chromed plastic caps would be better, don't you? We could maybe order 5000 and sell them on if all the Maser studs are the same size?
Somebody out there must actually make these things, they did not appear by immaculate conception.
