Like it or not you don't need to be a genius to see that the Maserati marketers seem a confused lot:
Roll out the Alfieri, albeit too late to take advantage of the company's centenary, take deposits, then quietly forget it.
Resurrect the idea, but with no clear or published strategy.
Suggest a revised line-up but who knows what or when? Will it be in 2018 or 2081?
Care to discuss Maserati's Classiche programme? There isn't one!
And so it goes.

No doubt I am now regarded as a dedicated Maserati heretic, but nothing could be further from the truth. What bl00dy well grieves me is the wasted opportunities to invigorate and promote the brand, and no amount of talking up the marque can recover that.

I don't disagree with you. In this day and age you adapt to your market whatever it may be or die, and if Ghiblis become the bread and butter that's fine. But why on earth should I have to persuade sales folk that I might be interested in their products? Isn't it supposed to be the other way round? The media says Jaguar has 'scored a bullseye' with the F-Pace; everyone knows about it and I was recently offered an immediate test drive having shown only passing interest. The Levante may also have scored a bullseye, but who'd know?

Hilarious. I've been up close and personal with a lot of very beautiful women. Sadly, doesn't mean I know what all of them are like in bed!!

I meant 50k sales annually. If they are running at 35k or so now, when Levante comes online they aren't going to be far off 60k? I read that they expect to sell as many Levantes as the rest of the models combined..

No point in comparing sales figures to other brands, they aren't ever going to compete on absolute numbers with the number of dealers they have. Indeed, they are struggling now with servicing (number of dealers vs number of cars), well if my "local" dealer is anything to go by anyway!!

And £50k on the road is right however closer to £60k with any sort of options (wheels, carbon, metallic)

Would that be where the majority of the profit will be? In optional extras.. Or will the margin be smaller?

Volume here is always going to be compromised by the size of the dealer network. Sadly they'll need to show volume if they want to get dealers to sell alongside Alfa. A bit chicken and egg.

I would expect them to get to the 60k by the end of next year, first full year of Levante sales and the Ghibli and QP refresh.

That may be enough to fund the GT replacement as a halo car. Alfieri will be after that as its low volumes and won't have the margin of the GT.

Most company diesels are going out with metallic, DAB, HFS and maybe paddles and 19" wheels tops. List of £52k max and paying £45k. Good value at that price.

Numbers just in from the USA, Sept 15 sales of 871 cars, Sept 16 of 1185 cars (FWIW a 36% increase)
