Thanks Tom, some very handy pointers there.

People get scared of working on Maseratis, they are just cars, well done for giving it a go.

hi Guys !
Up for this tread !

Some news : get from a specialist, price to change : gearbox the 2 belt (not chain cambelt) and oil pressure sensor : 1,071.70 GBP :battered:
He mentioned 20 workinghours to do that. price is without parts ( i get them)

Good value or ....not ?????

Gearbox is 5-6hrs, oil sender 2-3hrs, belts 3-4hrs so I recon 20 hours is too much, if he is good, it could be done in half that/10hrs

Also with the radiator and cambelt apart the oil sender is easy to replace too.

If you have the cambelt done, get the radiator removed otherwise I guarantee it will start leaking a few weeks later, were they man handle it out of the way with the coolant pipes still attached and crack the radiator upper, lower or both flange(s)

Look at the list of Independent Maserati Specialist on here, just put it in search, you should find one more reasonable..!!

Did you actually mean to change the gearbox too, or was that a wrong interpretation..??

Hi !!!! Update !!!!

3200GT working now ! No noise whaouuuuu :numberone:!!!!

Independent specialist have repaced : Gearbox/clutch pressure plate+ Flywheel/ Cambelt kit / oil pressure sender (older working good...)/ Lambda sensor / ligths calibration.
Now car is just lovely to drive. Sound was fantastic , better than 4200 ( TubiStyle exaust, around 2500£...). I will post a youtube video later :alan4:.

But i get some issue when specialist dismount the car : Exaust pipe is obstrued in intermediate box. I said me car lost around 60-80hp...:frusty5: .
Can I replace the box with a "x-pipe" homemade ? I'm afraid by the sound without the box...
What is the raw ?stainless ? inox ? magnesium ? I get a friend welder...

Hi Tom ,

good news that you are up and running again !
mine had some issues with the exhaust box you refer to ( I think something was loose) . I opened the bottom up , cleared out the debris - looks like a cross between a silencer and a cat , then welded back up and all good . This was done a few years ago - a little increase in exhaust note but nothing too much.
