Newton the lump has to come out because I'm sure its the oil / water pump unit that has failed.
I'm intrigued to see what has happened myself so I will strip it down.
The car was running fine with erratic oil pressure readings.
The sender unit was renewed and not long after no pressure and oil light on dumping some coolant.
I'm a phone call away from all the tech advice I need and have a low mile engine lined up.
I've even had a message for someone wanting the bits.
Excited to be getting on with it.

If it is the oil/water pump failure, it does seem to be the main cause of engine terminal failure besides hydrolocking. It also would seem to have no relevance to the age or production. Any additional information has to have value in understanding this failure. Do we know if the 430 suffers from the same failure?

Good luck anyway.

When I get into it I will get the boys to photo the procedure of removal and strip to getting her back up and going.
Would like to do like Enzo did with his 550 but we will see how it goes.

Phil remember I have a 4200 engine in bits in my garage if you need any parts.

Mine has a scrap crank due to oil pump failure but everything else looks good.

Cheers Matt will do.
I have had her running and it sounds like 32 lifters rattling.
The oil light goes out and shows pressure on the gauge.
The motor will be out tomorrow.
Have washed her and given her a quick wax of Harleys.

David is about £2.5k for an exchange, rebuild engine.

One straight out of a scrapper might even be cheaper.

Phil,

Best of luck with her mate, she looks in quite nice condition and should be on the road rather than in a yard somewhere..!!

Cheers

Wow what a day.
Doing this job the dealers earn their £130 hourly rate and in my opinion its worth it.
Best news is there is no metal filings/dwarf in the 8 litres of nearly clean oil that came out.
So I'm removing the pump assembly in situ to inspect.
Everything in the heads is as new.
Got the offside manifold off which was time consuming as my hands on the large side.
Will tell more as I go on.

Were you expecting to find a dwarf in the oil, Phil? It's not a MG Midget!
