(My!!) New Rosso Mondiale over Avorio Gransport

Agree on the black.
Mine came with ballpolished wheels and the chrome grill (first delivered in Hollywood, that might explain) and I've had the wheels changed to mercury grey, and will have the grill painted black. (my car is Blu Nettuno).

I've said it before but I absolutely love the Rosso Mondiale colour of your car, absolutely stunning.

6 week wait to get some Ferodo DS2500 so have now ordered front Brembo Sport HP2000pads to try, these are uprated but still road rated.

Less pad choice than I thought for these cars, esp considering I think the calipers are fitted to a number of cars.

Shouldnt be that long, where did you try?
I have the big brake conversion and can confirm it is worth it, and that is with DS2500 pads. Great stopping power on the road, havnt tried them on track, as i dont see it a track car, but Spa is appealing, as its a fast track, so may suit the GS abit better than most. Glad you are enjoying the car regardless, its a stunning colour, and obviously a great car to be able to jump in a do a long trip like that

Both places had them "in stock" the Brembo ones are not coming until next week either which is annoying as my brakes squeak terribly thanks to the harsh pagid pads. I've tried heat cycling them and could try taking them out, but after seeing they are racing pads they need to be changed.

Another Mini Update

I took the car to mark at Prestige Performance Car Services in Kent.

I found Mark to be friendly and straightforward, asked him to do a check over and major service.

I think I need to qualify it a little (a bit like when the Vet says yours is the most handsome dog/cat they've ever seen) but he seemed to be impressed with the car as being a very good example, only needing a few minor things, which is nice secondary validation that I haven't bought a pup!

The clutch wear was measured at 12.68% which is good to know, and Mark has changed the PIS set point, the car now steps off more positively and the changes going up are noticeably quicker and smoother.

It's has Engine Oil, Coolant Change, Brake Fluid Change, Spark Plugs, Pollen filter, one new ARB Drop link, handbrake adjusted, air con re gassed and dye added (it was low on gas, hopefully no major leaks so far), wiper blades etc

Aux belt and tensioners were all done a year ago already.

Apparently the pollen filter was a bit of a state, despite servicing every year it doesn't seem to have been changed since 2014!

I guess it's an **** to remove that fragile scuttle trim, hated that on my 3200!

All of this for £1800 inc VAT which seems sensible and fair enough.

Brake pedal feel is much improved with the new fluid; more positive etc

So hopefully I am good for a while now!

P.S I Think I'm going to keep the wheels black for now, have grown to quite like it, now the grille is back to standard it all looks much more together.

I continue to be very impressed by the car all round; it's rare that I buy a car and it proves to be so much better than I thought it would be to drive and enjoy!

What’s the F Pace like as a daily? I’ve got a Range Rover sport for my daily but find it a bit cumbersome, tempted by an SVR like yours but prices remain stubbornly above £50k

One of the unique things about it is that in size it is between a Macan and Cayenne; so there is plenty of space inside, but you can just about get it into most parking spaces and manoeuvre without things feeling ridiculous.

Lovely Semi Analine leather bucket seats, mine has radar cruise, self steer, apple carplay, head up display, park assist (not that I’ve used it) pano roof etc so plenty of toys.

They there is the driving, I genuinely found it more fun to drive and more characterful than a C63S and F90 M5 (non comp) that I tested.

I guess the Alfa quad was always going to be hard to replace like for like.

It’s such a feel good car, the engine sounds and feels amazing, instant twist from the supercharger and sounds great burbling about of going for it. The ride is a little brittle at low speed but the nice steering and composure once you go quicker makes up for it. It weighs just a smidge under or over 2t so not quite a bad as some SUV’s.

It’s an amazing all rounder. Mine is the pre facelift which I bought at two years old, could not quite afford a facelift one at the time and actually prefer the looks of the pre facelift, it sounds better too and gets full leather as standard.

In short, it eats up the miles, has comfort but is fun to drive and yet practical.

For those who might be sceptical here is car mag comparing the facelift SVR with the M3 Touring and others;

Angus, we went in one of my friend's SVR F-Pace to Spa last year. 4 up and mostly motorway of course. It was comfortable and did 30 mpg on the long runs, which was a real surprise! I did about 250 miles behind the wheel and I was genuinely surprised how well it handled. The owner sold his Boxster GTS 4.0 as he found he enjoyed the SVR more (he has an early tuned Cayman S so still something for the weekend). I agree re the early cars. They sound much better without the particulate filters. I also think the F-Type looks much better pre facelift so perhaps Jag are heading in the wrong direction lately?

That’s funny, that photo was taken in Stavelot just outside spa. My friends had to be honest fairly boring cars, so I offered the F pace up too as support vehicle as it’s the ideal 4 up wagon.

Brilliant, glad I’m not the only one that has enjoyed its charms, a lot more fun than you would think!!!

One of the few cars that competed with me buying the Gransport was an early V8S F Type, but then we are talking about 15k more and it has similarities to my daily driver, I have heard the RWD F Type is a bit of a hot rod style hoot :)

I have still never owned a Porsche of any kind, it’s just mega money for any that I would want to own. Did consider a 996 C2 before buying the Gransport, the 3.4 pre facelift cars look quite pretty to me now.

When I was driving the Gransport on our spa trip, it did surprise me how bloody loud the SVR is at full chat from the outside when a friend was driving it, it sounds pretty outrageous to be honest!!!

C63S I drove had ab opf and really didn’t sound very good at all.

Busy day at work but after stuffing down some meeting sandwiches managed a 30 minute drive to clear my head, like a shot of Espresso

Sadly mine only received a wash and wax today as was busy preparing and offering a friend's 750i he no longer needs. With the weather changing adversely, it may be in use for Le Mans this weekend as rain and a Morgan could really put a damper (literally) on the event.

Have a good time; been wanting to go to the Classic for a long time now, booked once’s but got Covid cancelled.

Haha yes I can see that dry and cocooned might be hard to resist. Now imagining small leaks and steaming up; but I guess maybe that’s part of it for the authentic experience!?

I remember stuffing tissues into the door of my TVR in the first few weeks of my ownership because my leg was getting wet on the motorway

Finally got round to swapping out the Pagid Pads today, they have been super squeaky.

They are Pagid RS44 which is I think a club racing pad. Shame as they are next to new with less than 1000 miles on them. Might be of use to someone?

No backing material, unlike the Brembos that I have put on, also with some copper slip smeared on.

On another note, I think my car is subtly lowered. Ride heights are 67cm front and 65.5cm rear when measuring from the lip of the arch to the floor.

Are there any comparative stats for what is standard??
