Hi everyone, I`m James from Dorset, I have just joined, not an owner yet but am looking for a 4200, and hope to purchase in the next month or so.

Welcome along & good luck in your search - keep your eyes on the classifieds here, the best cars are sold by forum members and also all of the good cars and the not so good, have probably been discussed here already so it's a great resource

Welcome James. There's several of us on here from Dorset, including some 4200 owners. For advice, help, servicing (and possibly even car sourcing) try Emblem Sports Cars in Poole - they are your nearest specialists.

And there's likely to be a good turn-out at the Italian car evening at Poole Quay later in the summer (assuming they do it again this year).

Welcome.

As Ewan states, you are blessed with having Emblem on your door step.

Good luck with the search.

I enquired at booking in at Emblem as my parents live near there...for a few smallish jobs. They said no problem sir, we can fit you in July 25th!

Is it normal to have to book so far ahead?

For Emblem, yes I believe so - they're very popular and have a long, long waiting list. Shiltech were the same when I used to have them look after my AC

Yep...like the best restaurants...and they have just taken a new mechanic on this year.

Check the post "anyone looking for a GT" by OldRocker. He's looking to sell his 4200. And a quick private deal between the two of you make save/make both of a few quid.

"Full history..6 stamps"?
First thing that jumped out at me. Maybe it is just me??
I am with Ewan though. If you are looking for a manual ( not that common) then I would be starting with the one Ewan referred to.
Will get an honest description of the car at least and it is known on here.
No harm in looking at the one on Autrader though. Seeing several lets you get an idea of what is good and bad.

6 stamps is not full history.....but when these cars get to this age you will find the odd service has been missed or left as the owner hasn't done the miles and may have done it on miles not yearly.....Depends when the service has been missed as if it has been well looked after over the last few years it may not be an issue. Get it inspected and see what it turns up. It looks good in the pictures.

Good luck with your search lots of advice on here will help. Like a lot of performance cars of this age many owners miss services as the cars aren't covering the iles this may or not be an issue which is why an indie inspection is a must.

Emblem do have long waiting lists for scheduled work so it is always worth booking early but on the other hand when something is urgent they always manage to fit you in. They are one of the best around which is why I will be down there on Saturday despite there being many closer indies to me.

If you're at Emblem on Saturday there's a good chance you'll see my Venturi and MC Victory as they are working on both currently. I may even pop down there early myself.

Agree with this completely. If you just focus on cars that have been genuinely serviced as per the book (confusing and over fussy as it is) then you would struggle to buy anything over 4,5 years old with a Maserati badge on it.
