I thought last nights show was pretty good. EJ's face when he had to hand the car over was a picture! CE still shouting too much though.

Apart from the Mclaren, which I would have in a heartbeat, last night's show was so-so. The Africa thing was quite entertaining but they spent far too long doing all that interviewing on the sofa bollox. And they seriously need to stop using Clarkon's lines. Make it their own. Stop dressing up in someone else's clothes and thinking they can carry on where the last lot left off. And FFS, Chris, stop bloody shouting.

I thought that last nights show was better apart from a couple of things that really annoyed me .

-They seem to think that throwing in loads of guests make the show better . It does nt . its just confuses the format . Get the format sorted then add extra later .
-Who is the third host ? Is it Sabine or Eddie ? ( Eddie was nt as annoying as i thought he would be and could actually work as part of the three on trips ) But they need to start forming a bond , you can t do that if the line up keeps changing .
-Tell Matt to stop pointing at Chris when its his turn to talk ;P
-too much time is dedicated the the star in the rally car . it drags and feel like padding to me !

I think that Matt, Chris and Eddie should be that main hosts abd all three should be in the studio with Sabine adding reviews and location pieces now and then for the sake of variety .

Matt will be a great presenter once he had bedded in and learnt the trade . But early results are good if a lttle wooden . It takes time to be at ease in front of a camera . (ask some of Dems birds ;P)

Much better than the first week. But get rid of the first/best car. Pretty lame. Regarding the shoot out with the SUVs - pity they didn't actually summarise what they thought about the cars. Rather pointless exercise in the end!

Do you think he'll be around long enough to bed in , I wouldn't think his contract will be very long as hollywood cheques are likely to be a bit bigger than the BBCs

It was much better than the first week. I think that's mainly because most was a pre-recorded trip where the editors can cut out the dross and have them do several takes etc. They should have asked Sharleen about her cars too, she lives round the corner from me and has a G500 AMG. Very nice indeed.

I think his Holywood days are over , and he know it . He just does the odd comedy series , and not many of those . And i think Top Gear is a job that he will love as he a petrol head . Would you give it up to make a rubbish film ? i would nt ;)

Depends if they offered me $1,000,000 then I'd be Michael Caine ,as he said once Jaws 4 paid for his mums extension

Thought episode 2 was much better (although didn't find the 1st as bad as others did).

I think MLB generally comes across well but could be more as a foil to CE and wonder if on his own as some have suggested could be a bit annoying (for some reason I think a lot of his pieces could be a toothpaste commercial as a bit wooded with a big smile).

I quite like the additional guests although think the sofa format needs a bit more work especially as it is a bit(very) thin on content and therefore seems to go on too long. In time once the presenters find there feet it could work well both on TV and the audience present.

As we know characters like Chris Evans will always polarise people, and there have been lots moaning about the fact he had revealed he had bought the McLaren, whats the problem with that the previous team did it all the time, I may not always agree with how much money people are paid but that's the way of the world and if someone has the money and can afford to buy it good luck to them, better to spread the wealth rather than keeping it in the bank to count. Also I don't think its fair to judge people on whether they are worthy of such a car based on whether they are a "respected and well informed journalist" rather than someone who likes and appreciates something.

Still maintain this is moving in the right direction and could surpass the previous team / format in the long run.

yes i think we have all forgotten that a year ago everyone was saying that Top Gear needed a format change and that they were running out of ideas . It will be fine once bedded in . Plus you get the Amazon show . everyones a winner ;) Ask Chris Clarkson

Michael:I have never seen it but I have seen the house it bought me

Haven't seen last nights yet but the fact that Evans trades in high end supercars is not something he should hide. I think it adds a much needed slide of credibility to his presentation on the programme. He is a genuine car guy.

I do agree, Chris Evans buying top cars should get mentioned.......Clarkson never let us forget that he "got pushed to the front of the queue" when going for the GT40

I think that's the problem, there hasn't been a format change, it's like watching a long running soap where they've changed the cast while hoping nobody noticed

I struggle with Chris being a "genuine car guy" buying 8 Ferrari's and painting them white and constantly talking about Ferrari only seems a bit thin to me..... In a kind of I have lots of money so lets buy lots of Ferrari's, the obvious choice etc

In the same way that someone who buys a 5 year old Maserati from a dealer is clearly not as passionate about cars as someone who lovingly restores a basket case themselves?

Maybe. I don't want to get into a competition, there is no doubt that he likes cars, but for me he just doesn't have the credibility despite all of his white Ferraris.

Clarkson, Hammond and May were all motoring journalists, and I think Clarkson and May have a particular depth of knowledge about cars and the industry...

Clarkson's columns in Performance Car were brilliant, and James may managed to get into trouble at Autocar for spelling something across a magazine or something like that.
