Met a guy called Rob yesterday at the NEC, he was doing good stuff and raising money for children's charities with his Maserati. He pointed me here. I'm thinking about buying a 3200GT, please talk me out of it... (Not expecting any help in that regard)... Hi all...

Hi Ian

Welcome to the forum!

I am in Newbury if you want to look around one. I don't think we can talk you out of it if the decision has been made :D

Hi Ian,

Welcome to the forum,

Don't buy a 3200; buy a 4200. (ducks to avoid incoming…..)

Seriously, go for it. A well looked after 3200 is a thing of wonder.

Hope you find one with your name on it.

Regards, Miles.

Ian, welcome to our humble corner of planet Maserati.

All I will say is once you get bitten by the Maserati bug you are in for the long haul.

They will frustrate you at times but bury the loud pedal and the grin takes over.

Talking seriously for a mo, a 3200 is a great car but it does tend to give the wallet a kicking at times.

A 4200 that has been looked after on the other hand is bullet proof.

Granted, they don't have those iconic lights and bonnet vents.

Take your time, drive both and get an inspection and ask as many questions as you want.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I am aware that a good (and believable) service history is essential, including 18k cam belt changes, the throttle body being replaced with a contactless one, check the back boxes... anything else mght be useful... I'm tempted by yours Dem, but it's a little pricy as it's such a good one and being an Assetto Corsa... I'll looking to have my cake and eat it... nearer the 10-12k mark if I can... I'm not in a hurry, I want a good one for the money and am willing to wait for it to come along.
I do need an auto, having been told it's the better one to have (light the touch paper), but I have no choice as I don't have a right leg unfortunately

Ian,
Welcome to the forum, you will not regret it..!! 3200's are a great car, go for as late a model as you can, late 2001, or 2002 ideally, they had a few niggles sorted by then. Auto's are great so don't be put off. 3200's are quick you will not regret the decision, if you can manage to go to an AC, they are excellent..!! Or you might decide to try for a 4200 if you can find one within your budget, again a great car..!!
Whichever you decide to go for, it is invaluable to get an independant inspection done on the car, before you part with any funds, if you need advice on that just ask..!!
Cheers

That's a Manual Box Ian, I thought you wanted Auto..??
Why don't you try Richard Grace Cars, he sources and sells Maserati and they are all fully checked by a good Specialist before he sells them..??
Cheers
