Sick...whats that? Can't remember the last time I was off sick. Oh yes I can.....I had swine flu a few years back and was quarantined in a bedroom away from wife & kids for a week. Was still working though as had a mobile, laptop & Internet.

I was sick last week with a very bad cold otherwise known as man flu
It was so bad everyone knew how **** I felt - I could hardly lift my head from the pillow and needed nursing for at least 24 hours

But i soldiered on, went to work everyday, upset everyone I met, infected at least one whole train full of commuters
And still went to the pub for medicinal purposes.

I hate being ill

Dunno mate. I guess that must be for people who get paid too much and can afford the time off work.

I think your right. I can afford to have time of work financially....for a short time! Just can't afford to have the 'time' off as always have too much too do. Vicious cycle. One day I'll get off this runaway train ;)

In what we do Dean, we can't take a day off.

If you're a mechanic, you have a day off every time you're not at the garage.

I seem to have had plenty of those non earning days...they have been non earning weeks, months and years at times so need to squirrel away when times are good! Funny how the government don' worry or make sure company directors don't fall foul of minimum wage legislation. One year a few years back I totted my hours/drawings up and it came to something stupid like £2.50 per hour!! Then you get some joker who thinks you never work and earn a fortune. If only they knew.

I actually enjoy the fact that my hours aren't prescribed or have to fit in around other's holidays.
True, not paid when not in but I know which i prefer ( for now ) lol....

Just worked out my earning for the other year per hour. (Only if I only did 8 hours a day). £2.84.

And I still had to pay corporation tax!

The Joys of self employment.
Remember it well.
Everyone should try it at least once :)

Thirteen years and counting! But I am reaching the end of my tether and may take the dread step back into the world of the salaryman next year, especially if my biggest client finally decides enough is enough and strips away the bulk of my income! Working by myself for so long has sent me a bit loopy over the years, and it might be good to have some other folks around me for a change...
