Thirteen years and counting! But I am reaching the end of my tether and may take the dread step back into the world of the salaryman next year, especially if my biggest client finally decides enough is enough and strips away the bulk of my income! Working by myself for so long has sent me a bit loopy over the years, and it might be good to have some other folks around me for a change...
I have felt like doing the same many times over the years when you know you can earn 600-1k per day consulting for others. Tempting & although being on your own is hard I prefer it. I'm not totally on my own & have a small team around me so a little different maybe. If I had been totally on my own that long I would have gone nuts by now?

Just spoke to Matthew who is still having problems with the Maser diagnostics update that Maserati haven't done properly (and are now not answering his calls).

They topped up fluid for the F1 pump as it was running low, and everything worked perfectly. Although he cannot understand where the leak is.
He also cannot reset the Slow Down message or check for anything else.

If your car is booked in at Giallo, you may have a wait. He currently has 12 cars waiting.

At least on a positive side for me is that it is looking like a cheap fix (famous last words).

It's one of the reasons I spend so much time on messageboards! It's frequently the only human interaction I get during the working day, apart from the odd parcel delivery...

I booked mine in for his service next year. Was aiming for mid Jan so he could have it while I was away. Hah!

Hope it's a cheap is it might be

With the Diagnosi problems Italy will frantically be trying to sort the dealer's issues first and then the Independent sector.
Something else they are not particularly good at from my experience especially when you're on the other side of the world.
That's why the workshop is always full of cars. If not waiting for parts it's waiting for information.

Just had an update from Matthew. His diagnostic stuff has to go back to Italy for Maserati to fix. Obviously that leaves him somewhat up sh!t creek. But also me without my Maser.
Mine moves, drives, goes into gear etc. However, the test only went to 3rd gear before crashing. So he doesn't know whether it's fixed or not.

Will leave it with him for now to see if his laptop comes back before the Crimbo bash.

Might be coming in the Merc. :frusty6::frusty6::frusty6:

Not good news, are other indies having issues with diagnostic equipment?

They may have been. But are probably sorted by now. Matthews problem is his laptop with the Maser Diag has gone tits up with the update.
Caused by the Maser software.

If the fluid was low, that was your issue, go get the car and test drive it for half hour. If it works then it will be fine....bring it to the Xmas party!

I took an Alfa once and it was a depressing day because of the lack of having a Maserati with me!

It depends on the equipment. Giallo have the latest Maserati system that requires a subscription and online updates.

I have an SD2 and SD3 which covers me up to GT and QP on the Maserati side (599 on the Ferrari side). The good thing about my units is they are dealer spec and don't have a timer (so no expensive subscriptions or updates).

The downside is the lack of support for later models - for this I have to rely on a Leonardo and a Texa. Both of which require subscriptions and updates!

I'll leave it with Giallo until next week.

If no joy by Tuesday, if I can get it to you Voicey could you plug it in and see what the problem is (or just reset the errors if nothing is wrong).

Update.

Picked my car up from Giallo. Started. Went into gear. Drove off. All good.
Got half a mile up the road, went into 4th gear, and then went straight into neutral. Turned the engine off. Turned it on again, drove back to Giallo, went into 4th gear, same thing.
So I've left her back there for them to look at when the diagnostics come back from Italy. :(

And just to add insult to injury, when I got back to Giallo I found a note in the car.
The RAC bloke who had unloaded the car had not put the handbrake on properly and the car had rolled into something, scratching the rear bumper and valance.
Joy. So that will have to be done as well. Fair play to the RAC bloke for owning up. But I think he's paying for it out of his own pocket!
I did warn him of the potential cost.

Looks like I'm coming to the Christmas bash in the Merc :(
