Ouch. Think my clutch has just gone.

But don't you think they look ugly??

To me it looks like they haven't gone forward in terms of design but rolled the clock back to the 80's.

TBH - I didn't really pay much attention to it, it was dark and in another lane going another way to me - what struck me was its size, I have been on a smaller coach!
The Audi Q8 is large, the Merc GLA (or something like that) is also a tank, I heard and saw an C63 AMG GLA Brabus, took off like a scalded cat and sounded fab, but what is the point?

I actually saw one on the way to the gym tonight. The proportions on it are really odd.

I don't think it 'works'.

As you say, it's probably lovely inside, but ugly as sin.

Maserati for the wife? I'm in!! She has been giving me grief of late so a nice shiny Maserati would be a welcome change. Actually I am being unkind. The wife is a keeper - she agreed to me actually buying a Maserati - but only after she got her AMG 250!! :)

Prices vary but around 2.5k fitted is what you should budget for. People tend to get other bits done whilst the garage have it, such as flywheel, bearings 3tc.

Mine was 2.6 which included clutch, flywheel, release brg, spigot brg, rocker cover gasket (£48) and purchase of a new headlight washer unit (£90) so Martins estimate is about right.

Or as my wife pointed out - a car for each of the kids!!!

Far cheaper here in the SW. £2K will get you a new clutch, release and spigot bearing, bolts for the plate and new flanges for the exhaust, all via Ftech forum sponsor.

That is an excellent deal & well worth travelling for

No need to travel...use their covered trailer service...OK they did me a delivery deal but it was cheaper than the rail and fuel costs!! V. Happy.

FTech being in Exeter are at a geographical disadvantage and so this service must basically 'move' them into the heart of the country. Which in turn, ramps up competition which is good for the consumer (aka us!)

Their order book is full and as many exotics owners have a place in that area as well as our London pads they are not short of customers...Two F40s in there this week.

As the spanners are ex HR Owen and Carrs the owners know the service and who's doing the work.

Anyway enough of my PR work ;0)

how much is the 4200 clutch going rate these days?

Just another perspective for you. Like others said chuck a few extras like a flywheel in there it will easily push it up by £500 but you should be able to use this as a rough idea

http://www.hrowen.co.uk/maserati/offers/maserati-clutch-replacement/890/offerdetail.aspx

I'm surprised that the GS is cheaper than the 4200 CC/duo select... I thought they were essentially the same underneath (??) Not that I care that much as I have a 3 pedal Maser XD

Back to the grand debate I had over summer regarding a used larini x-pipe which refused to fIt on my manual or another CC 4200... won't name those involved but we got sent around the houses with all sorts of conflicting information. The manual has a different exhaust to the CC is what I was told when it didn't fit mine so I sold it on I a CC owner didn't fit his either... LARINI said the x pipe will fit any 4200 manual/CC or Gransport and said that I was sold a twisted x-pipe... so that could have been BS as well as it came from a GS originally... you would expect the larini rep would know what he's taking about?

Anyway that saga is several months behind me now and it was settled relatively amicably. it's good to know that there is indeed a difference in the exhaust parts between the GS and 4200.

Many of the GS that were sold for the UK market seem to have the US/Canadian type manifolds - that is they have shorter primaries with a pre-cat before the pipes dip under the steering rack. There are many different parts in this are including the hose from the dry sump tank to the oil pump, heat shields etc. The outlets of these manifolds are in an entirely different position/orientation to cars (4300's) that have the more usual EU 4:! manifolds, so the Larini sport cat section is also different.

Having had this all off and on my car twice as I damaged the aforementioned oil pipe, I am surprised you thing a system is twisted. There is simply so many places it needs to be adjusted to get the Larini system to sit correctly under the car I would say its probably the pipes immediately after the manifold are not properly aligned.
