Just been reading up on it , I may just stay at home shooting at the front with a shotgun to save the fuel

Is there a show area that you're all in prior to going out on the track, I'd bring it to that but the thought of getting it peppered with stones after all this work and waiting is

I'm not saying I won't come , just might not take it on the track, is it the sort of event that if you don't go on the track it's not worth going

I don't know much about it

I know you've got the GT now but I know what you mean about seeing it again, it's going to be like bumping into an old girlfriend when she's lost weight and looks fantastic.

*and* she's getting ******* by someone else :)

Brunty is for charity. It's a great day *anyway* but making people happy by taking them around the track is what makes it for me (balanced by the constant fear of something going 'ping')

Talk to Andy K :)

Last year I attended but didn't track it because I was leaving for a Eurothrash with the family the following week.

Darren, come along, park, chat, talk shite, eat burgers, get a few laps in other cars. What's not to like!

We can always use help on the gate either collecting money or marshalling passengers in and out of the cars.

Wow. So what you're saying is that Darren should bring your old girlfriend to a place where you used to take her to get three-up sessions with strangers?

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose. Enjoy!

I'm getting the badges posted to Phil today along with the wheel centres so I'm hoping tomorrow is refit day

The only problem is the journey time, Portsmouth to kettering was taxi train tube train taxi which took nearly 5 hours so the journey back will be the same

Public transport , what a joke

One way car hire? Probably cheaper and certainly quicker!

And on the 15th day the Lord of the paint shop did say thou shalt come and collect thy car

I hope so anyway

I'm hoping to get a phone call today saying it's ready, it seems like forever , Phill is a perfectionist , the few spots of rust there were have been cut out and replaced with new metal , a bad repair on the passenger door has been corrected

The back bumper had to come off to address the rust around the rear light but we agreed the front bumper should stay on to keep the labour cost down so I was surprised to see it'd been removed in one of the pictures I was sent

He said I just couldn't paint it with it on the car , it wouldn't have been right which really makes me think it's going to come back looking like a new car when somebody with that level of commitment is painting it

There won't be any snaps of it, I'll be waiting for the right location and light to photograph it when I get it back so I can do phil's work justice

I just hope it's Friday when I can collect it

Looking good...now strap an old mattress over the front for that drive home...keep those stone chips a bay!

Finished mine off today, it does look stunning if I do say so myself, very happy. Also fitted some new, non flacking dash air vents, new badges and a BMC air filter. Perfect paint match, zero noticeable blending.

...and my new polished front grill mesh, what do you think?
