To find out what the E is do the simple diagnostic check.

Ignition on and hold the recirculate and eco buttons down together at the same time and hold. You will then see the fault code in the display where the E sybol is.

The only code it ever was external temp sensor and AS055 which is the flaps being a bit sticky (ooeerr) in winter.

I never dug further as it was that rare but my money is on the door plug. The fan plug is (was) fine and produces different symptoms.

For the "E"/ temp thing going on, assuming you've checked the common issues of external temp sensor failure and the notoriously dodgy plug on the fan motor (under the glove box), I'd check the multi plug pins on the drivers door/pillar. I had similar symptoms that were caused by a loose pin in the plug.

Thanks for that info, I haven't checked anything yet , the plugs have all been out because the mirrors and handles have been off so I might give them a squirt with switch cleaner before I put the door cards back on

There's a plug under the glove box which is prone to burning the contacts. That'll kill the heating system stone dead if it happens. First port of call for your symptoms. There is a thread with pics on here somewhere.

I was quoted £3500 to have just the inner lip of the off-side rear guard painted. No, I haven't added an extra nought. This area is susceptible to road rash and is a known weak point. This was from a main dealer's sub-contractor whose offer I decided to decline.

I'm looking to have a full respray but not bare-metal and have heard Finishline are good. http://www.finishlineukltd.co.uk/ Has anyone any experience?

John, it never had the tridents.

Darren Mrs Catman looked at that and said 'Oh wow! Is that yours!' My reaction was '**** me'

Hats off mate, and I can't be happier that it's gone to exactly the kind of home I wanted.

Dusty in here, isn't it? :too_sad:

I'm blown away but the quality of the work, it really looks like a new car, apart from the rusty wheel nuts , pilot sport 4s going on tomorrow

Did have the 'Design Giugaro' badges, and I hear you. Not my car any more though, but it's tough! I never missed the C-pillar badges. I can see why they are added, though!

I don't have the design giugaro badges at the moment, nor the C pillar Tridents, and quite like the 'clean' look.
I do have both pairs mind, incase I change my mind...

I've got the C pillar tridents for it so they will be going on and I'm going to try my best to get them on straight and pointing the correct way.

I was hoping Phill would do it but we ran out of time

For anyone considering paintwork it was a 500 mile round trip for me and I'd do it again tomorrow if I had paint that wanted doing, Phill is a rare breed , there's no "it'll do"with him it's right or nothing.

I've used the same mechanic for over 10 years because I trust him to do it right and now I've found a paint shop with the same qualities , the quality of the paint is excellent , I'll be bringing it to one of the events , probably brunty because it's heading towards Northants but it's unlikely I'll take it on the track.

It's thanks to Matt (Conearo) that the car looks like it does because he arranged for me to take it there so I'd like to thank him.

If you're considering having paintwork done I'd ask Matt for the number

Judging on yours and Matts pics it's a no brainier, for the cost against what I have been quoted for a front end its night and day, daft really as mine is only front, but, SS long as I can do still do Brunty then maybe after that!

You won't regret it

I've told steve my mechanic it's due for a service soon but he'll need to go and buy a white suit before I'll let him near it :D

This wasn't bare metal, there were a number of repairs required but you can't see any of them at all , any rust was cut out and replaced with new metal , Phil said they don't fill rusty bits

The passenger door had a bad repair at some point in its life but it's like new now, Cambridge to Portsmouth isn't that far for the quality of the job you'll be getting

I had an epic day getting it there
4:30am start, 5 hour drive, 10am-5pm stripping the car then taxi,train,tube,train,45min walk then bed knackered
